For a solid 9 inch wall I'd take out a section of brickwork, and then build it back in.1

I have seen them complete, as you say. But it’s still going to be difficult to cut a neat hole in the brickwork, especially angled down. What tool would you use?stuart45 said:The through wall ones come complete, but I think start around £90.
You should put a tray over the top, especially as they run back into the inner skin.Abortech is the go-to tool for cutting in to brick - Kinda like a multitool on steriods and a price tag to match. A reciprocating saw with a carbide masonry blade would also do the job. If neither of those tools are available, a hammer drill and a 100-150mm long bit - Drill a series of holes through the mortar joint of a brick and chisel the remains out. Do the same on the other leaf, and then insert a sleeve & mount the letter box.If the walls were built with a lime mortar, a pad saw could be used.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1

We have an attached garage on our semi and had a post box put in that. It was done more for when we went on holiday to stop the post piling up and being on view to potential burglars.0

Heya, yeh it was a long meeting where he bought a sample of the door/window and I did ask about whether one half ought to be a door and whether another bit could be an openable window etc but I've no idea why a postbox never got mentioned as I showed him neighbours porch doors which has the flaps as standard. I do recall implying I needed a post feature as I asked about a small window modification. Bit disgruntled, but not much I can do about it now I suppose[Deleted User] said:Tiiia said:

Yeh more fool me tbh- I just figured when I showed him a few of the neighbors patio doors all had a small slot on the lower left hand side of the doors. I do recall saying I needed a roll-down window so my mother could grab parcels easily when we discussed specs and stuff, so I dunno why he didn't discuss such designs. Just annoyed at myself and them that a crucial bit of a front patio door was missed, feels like the onus is on layman clients to chase up everything, but yes I did make reference to postMutton_Geoff said:It's more fashionable not to have a letter box nowadays due to insulation/drafts. Just stick a box up. I get about 10% of the mail I did two years ago as just about everything has moved online.
Having seen the doors before you ordered them, you might have worked out letter boxes don't go into glass. 0 0

That's a good idea. I've no garage but I might get a lockable box for outsidemillie said:We have an attached garage on our semi and had a post box put in that. It was done more for when we went on holiday to stop the post piling up and being on view to potential burglars.0
