Is it just me or have the different levels of compensation disappeared off the RM site.......last week I was able to choose small parcel with free cover for £20 or increase to £50 £100 etc for a small increase but now all services don't show that option

You can’t ‘increase’ the level of compensation and never have been able to AFAIK . Instead you choose a different service, so a standard parcel has compensation of £20, signed for is up to £50 and if you want more than that then you need special delivery. All of those services are still available and show in the same format as they always didgrandadgolfer said:Is it just me or have the different levels of compensation disappeared off the RM site.......last week I was able to choose small parcel with free cover for £20 or increase to £50 £100 etc for a small increase but now all services don't show that option

Are you sure this wasn't on Parcelforce or via another provider

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
On RM's price finder it shows all the services and different compensation levels for me, still

I've never seen what the OP says was on the RM website.
I had a choice of small parcel untracked with £20.00 compensation for £3.35 (used to be £3.20) or signed for with £50.00 compensation for £4.45.
I still do have that choice.
They are different products.

As has been suggested you were not on the Royal Mail site and it was possibly Parcelforce or a courier. Standard parcels have been at a £20 compensation for several years and signed for with comp up to £50 the same. For comp higher than £50 you needed special delivery .grandadgolfer said:

Also the prices might help narrow it down, what were you paying to increase the compensation? a standard 2nd class small parcel postage bought online is £2.85 m small 2nd class parcel signed for is £3.95 (both these are up to 2KG). You also have the option of 1st class or larger parcels but the service used dictates the level of comp.
The only other suggestions is either a third party site like Parcel2go that allows you to opt for different compensation BUT if you use a Royal Mail option it reverts back to their stated comp level. Might it be that and you have just misunderstood what you are seeing . Or one of the tracked services which are more expensive but possibly offer more comp, I don’t use them so don’t know if comp level can be reset .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. For anyone unsure, this is what I see on Royal Mail's own price finder for small parcels - yes they are different products but the different levels of compensation are clear.
(Screenshot is of the mobile site but it does the same on a desktop as well.)

That's what I see too
I'm not sure what the OP means about 'just takes a few more clicks to find'.
The compensation for 2nd class small parcel has been £20.00 for ages with no option to upgrade the compensation unless you choose a different product. e.g. small parcel signed for.0
