(Link not posted, as full of ads and pictures)How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)1 -

They do more checks and apparently the name they have on file for you is not the same as the name on your account.and they can't even check the name on the account to see if just one letter is different, they only get a "No match" from the bank due to privacy rules.I'm still confused why they didn't just reduce the council tax bill by £150, surely that would have been far cheaper. This is probably going to cost them millions and then next year payments will go up by £200 to pay for it

The aim was to put £150 in people's hands before September and with a lot (most?) paying in instalments it would have just resulted in a small, barely noticeable, reduction each month if they took it off the total.Astria said:I'm still confused why they didn't just reduce the council tax bill by £150, surely that would have been far cheaper.

Not sure about how LCC/BBC knows about the second part of this sentence...
'The council said 120,000 council tax rebate payments had been made correctly in the city, with about 80% of households in England benefiting from the scheme.'
Well done on making some correct payments.0 -

'The council said 120,000 council tax rebate payments had been made correctly in the city, with about 80% of households in England benefiting from the scheme.'That is just a national statistic on the number of households in the qualifying bands...

That's what they've done in Scotland. Just taken £150 off.Astria said:QrizB said:To pay the rebate, they need to ensure that it goes to the resident and that nobody receives more than one payment. Is there a thread monitoring/logging which local authorities have actually started paying the Government funded £150 energy rebate to qualifying households, either in full or by instalments? Of course, the initial plan was to pay this IN April this year. That quickly backslid to FROM April.
Those who pay by direct debit were supposed to be the lucky winners of earliest payment. Has this happened? Payers by other means, such as instalments by standing order, had to apply in writing or by form submission. Has anyone in this group received payment? I certainly haven’t, despite a follow up after 4 weeks. As mentioned above, my council in Leeds, managed to pay 25000 people twice, so need to recover £3.75m, which will be time consuming if nothing else.
A local newspaper listed the claim procedures for all the local councils. Of course, every one was different and had its own specific timetable/target.0
