It just seems so counter intuitive to jump onto a fixed tariff that doubles your monthly DD. 53p or 54p per KWH seems top endish when considering the predictions for the coming increases.spot1034 said:Eon Next 1 Year v17 and Next Online v17 have both been replaced by v18. Interesting that the 1 Year v18 tariff - the expensive one which surely no one goes for! - has actually come down a bit whilst Next Online v18 shows an increase over its predecessor. I'm not sure what, if anything, we can read in to this. Next Online v18 still looks reasonable for gas against predictions for the new price cap from October (13.33p for my region, DD rate) but electricity looks rather high with the price for my region at 54.01p.
Interesting also that whilst the last two versions of this tariff have offered a discount to E7 users even if their night use is zero, this is no longer the case with the E7 day rate higher than the single rate, so you need to do the sums to work out if it's cheaper for you.0 -
So these are what i'm being offered by Ovo today - rates for Everyone (there is one rate for me as an existing customer where the unit rates are higher than any of these!)
My big question is which to go for, as the SVR seems a lot lower and based on my annual usage would cost me £1382.87 pa / £115 pm (if it stayed the same - i know it will rise), compared to the 'better energy' fix which would cost me £3792.89 pa / £316 pm - surely the variable is not going to raise that much it'd outweigh the fixed rates? or am i missing something really obvious?? Just to compare, i'm coming to the end of a 2 yer fix, with my costs having been £80 month, so these new numbers are making me feel sick

Those are pretty high costs per KWH. My quote 53.17p up from 51.6p overnight seemed bad enough.MissFlomeister said:So these are what i'm being offered by Ovo today - rates for Everyone (there is one rate for me as an existing customer where the unit rates are higher than any of these!)

Is there anyone with bulb who has found a fix worth switching to?? The ones suggested by ML are literally double what I’m spending. Stuck in a trap as I can’t afford the fix but also won’t be able to afford it when it increases in October!0

Octopus My 2 year fix is ending and here are my existing customer offers from them. New customers are only a little more expensive
2 YR FIX Ending in a few days! Annual Bill Approx £1100
Gas S/C 17.85p Kwh 2.58p Electricity S/C 21.43p Kwh 15.06p
Offered early July only for a few days but I missed it as I was away and could not easily research and check (Oh my this miss is gonna be expensive) Estimated Bill Approx £2700
1 YR FIX Gas S/C 27.22p Kwh 11.34p Electricity S/C 47.86p Kwh 40.17p
This was on the cusp of what Martin was saying was a good fix at the time!!!
Then it jumped and moved around a bit with the S/C staying the same but Kwh changing and as of today Estimated Bill Approx £3700
1YR FIX Gas S/C 27.22p Kwh 17.26p Electricity S/C 47.86p Kwh 57.72p
I have decided to default to the current variable which is
Gas S/C 27.22p Kwh 7.36p Electricity S/C 47.86p Kwh 27.86p Estimated Bill Approx £1800
BUT I KNOW THIS WILL RISE DRAMATICALLY IN OCTOBER AND MY USAGE AUG/SEPT IS IN LOW MONTHS

I had thought you were considering Green Energy, I guess you didn't go ahead and fix with them.Newmum92 said:Is there anyone with bulb who has found a fix worth switching to?? You have missed the ship now when you did not take the Green Energy UK fixed tariff that was recommended to you three weeks ago in the thread you opened.Newmum92 said:Is there anyone with bulb who has found a fix worth switching to?? You might not have liked the cost, but the fixed tariff was excellent in comparison what you will be paying now, £55 cheaper per month than the new SVT in October.
The annual cost @Mstty has calculate din your thread for you has gone up another £100 per year based on the October cap, with more increases coming in January and April.

Are you sure the loyalty Jul 23v1 is still available?pickledonionspaceraider said:This is what we were offered with BRITISH GASH - since when did deciding about energy require a degree in accounting lol it seems to these days

If so get it now and screen shot the change just incase they backtrack.1 -
It is not officially available now still - , they initially offered us this rate in Mid-June, (six weeks before our existing tariff ended) and then removed it again two days later...Mstty said:

and then wanted to swap us on to the the August fixed price even higher - so i raised a complaint on their online chat, and they reverted us back to the July tariff.
My advice to anyone who isn't happy is to COMPLAIN. It could save you hundreds.....and it is amazing how when you complain about how briskly the tariff offers are being removed, that the other tariffs suddenly are available to you, after all...
With love, POSR

Kim, we were told you cannot have a fixed direct debit until they have six months history. This is what Cameron Stewart from GEUK said:-kim_lloyd25 said:
They've said once we can sort out fixed direct debits once they've taken over our energy. Our switch is due on 7th August so will speak to them then about sorting it. If it had to stay variable I would've just put a fixed amount in a saving space every month so we'd have the money for winter when it came to it.jefferson89 said:kim_lloyd25 said:I'm looking at fixing with Green Energy UK. Its quoting £170 a month, much cheaper than what we've been offered by British Gas, but when I go through to sign up it says they operate Variable Direct Debits. When you sign up is there an option to change this? I'd rather spread it equally through the year than be out of pocket in winter.
Hey Kim, i have recently joined them, currently going throught the switching process, which should be done on the 4th august, i got the variable also, which i am like yourself prefer a standard direct debit. i assume you can setup this up once the account is up and running, but will have to see, have you had any more information on this?kim_lloyd25 said:I'm looking at fixing with Green Energy UK. It sounds like a sensible business decision to me, in case people underestimate their annual usage.
