Incredibly, Green Energy UK's Sparkling tariff is still up, and hasn't changed its prices. Are they hoping for government assistance? They longer they keep it on, the more concerned I get for their affordability.

Anyway, that seems to be the only open market choice now. Everyone else seems to have changed their prices overnight.
Green Energy UK could end up like Avro.
That's very unlikely. Avro (and almost all the other suppliers who went bust last year) found themselves having to sell energy for lesss than it cost, due to the Ofgem cap. Green Energy UK aren't subject to the cap and won't fall into that trap..
So long as they've pre-purchased the energy for Sparkling (and they've been in business for 20 years, so it seems likely that they know what they're doing) they'll be fine.

What we don’t have of course is firm evidence that they have bought the forward contracts required. Time will tell, but I’m not convinced.

GEUK have been around since 2001 and seem to know what they are doing. They have grown slowly over time and won many awards for their green energy.

@Doc_N You seem to be a GEUK doomsayer, what do you know that nobody else does?

A large difference between Avro and GEUK of course was Avro were doing only fixed direct debits so had a driver to offer nonsensical tariffs just to get more in-advance direct debit payments to try and fill the growing hole in their accounts.

GEUK are only offering variable direct debit in arrears with this tariff so the only reason they’d be offering rates below what it will cost them wholesale would be to purposefully bankrupt themselves.

Nothing at all - except cold logic. And the certain knowledge that when something seems too good to be true, it always is.  Just look at the facts and reach your own conclusions.

We none of us know why GEUK are undercutting the market to such an extent, but there has to be a reason - some people might be perfectly well served by taking a chance on it, but hose of us on current fixes have a lot to lose if we switch early.

When I first posted on this thread, Octopus were offering me a fix of 41.44p/kWh with SC 37.65p/day.

Now the fix on offer is 53.02p/kWh, same SC !!

(Current variable is 29.23p/kWh, same SC.)
    Was 55.something yesterday, now 58.98p/kWh.  Non-loyalty fixed is 62.31p.

I have a two year fix with SSE for my Electric, which began in June and a SC of 10.8p and UR of 24p/kwh on a variable DD, which I'm pretty pleased with given the current state of play.

As for gas. I've just come off a 1 year fixed with So Energy and have been dumped onto their So Flex variable., currently offering 27.21p SC and 7.32p/kwh or roughly £45/m, almost double on what I was paying on my fixed.

Obviously this tariff will go sky high come October and was hoping So Energy might offer me a fixed, but nothing yet. Fortunately I've got enough saved up in my bank account to offset some of the massive collateral damage that's going to hit hard come the Autumn  and Winter months.

I assume you mean began in June 2021 not this June 2022?

I've just fixed on this (well Wed morning), thought I was in the process of going on the Agile incoming with a max of 35ppkw but it wasnt so, I was only on outgoing Agile.
Ignore the gas and E7 as I'm only on the electric (oil fired CH instead of gas).

I figure I'll pay a tiny amount extra now until Oct but get that back quite quickly after that and I guarantee my SC stays the same.
