Incredibly, Green Energy UK's Sparkling tariff is still up, and hasn't changed its prices. Are they hoping for government assistance? They longer they keep it on, the more concerned I get for their affordability.

Anyway, that seems to be the only open market choice now. Everyone else seems to have changed their prices overnight.

I suspect apart from here it's still not known to the general public as it has never appeared as a hot pick by MSE

Probably limited to numbers due to hedging and once reached it will be pulled.
  • Good morning all

I am new here and struggling to understand if my provider’s offer of a fixed deal is any good. I came to Octopus via Avro when they collapsed. Details as below. Usage:

    Gas
    8,367 kWh/yr

    Electricity
    3,984 kWh/yr

    Many thanks!

Those prices may well beat the current predicted price cap however get a quote with green energy and compare their sparkling fixed tariff.

The electric daily standing charge is better than what I’ve been offered with SSE, but other charges similar.

Green energy are showing to be a lot cheaper than my offered fix. Are they reliable or chance of going bust?

I'd say with prices as they are, any of the energy companies has a chance of going bust.

Green Energy use a variable DD system, you pay each month for what you use. Small bills in summer, large in winter. No build up of credit or debit balances.

If they’re going to be selling energy below its cost to them, then the consequences are obvious. We’ve seen it all before.

The many companies that went under behaved exactly like this, using underpricing to gain customers. Essentially, if something looks too good to be true, it will be. Ask yourself why they’re taking on new customers at well below market rates.

A quick heads up, if you are planning to switch to Green Energy UK on sparkle, I have just got off the phone with them and they're saying that their prices have gone up today, however theurwebsite is still showing old prices to me.

just switched and will see what happens, will inform if I get an email or anything to say they are increasing but as far as I am aware I will be charged what I signed up for.

They said the website takes a while to update. if you are trying to work out if you should do it or not then just do it, you have a cooling off period!

I've attached my quote for curious people, on the phone they said gas is 14.xp and electric 4x.xp (sorry can't remember exactly I was in a hurry to get of phone to try and secure the lower rate)
