Forever31 said:I'm with the Utility Warehouse on a svr rate (I have no other packages with them, and I pay by dd).
Atm, I am paying (for my June bill):
kWh charged 111 (I think they mean 11.1?) for electricity with a standing charge of 13.93 per month plus VAT
kWh charged 249 (I think they mean 24.9?) for gas with a standing charge of 7.64 per month plus VAT
My total bill for June was £71.14.
My estimated usage over the last year is
1561kWh electricity - Projected bill of 576.26 per year atm.
and 8278kWh for gas.- Projected bill of 742.37 per year atm.
I have no exit fees. Should I be moving elsewhere/staying put, staying on SVR or fixing?
Utility Warehouse offers no fixed rate deals for a customer that is only with them for energy only.
gas 8.9p kWh.
Those are pretty high IMHO, For example, Octopus SVR is 28.01p and 7.34p currently.
Your standing charges at 48p and 26p per day are a bit high, but not ridiculously so.
What you need to do is find out how these prices will change in October. Then you can decide whether or not to move, if you can find another supplier.1 -
I can't thank you enough for that feedback Keith!
I'm going to investigate what my options are to find the best way forwards.
Update: I have just signed up for Green Energy. Hopefully, the transfer will go smoothly.
In October, if I remain with UW, the SVT rate for myself will be one of the more expensive ones. This is because you have to have 2 other packages (ie. insurance, broadband, etc) as well as energy to get the lowest SVR rate whereas I'm only with UW for energy only.
I have seen someone in the forum mention a SVT rate for one provider in October expected as 44-55 for electric and 14-15 for gas. So UW will definitely be higher than this for me.
With Green Energy, for a fixed tariff until 30 Sept 2023 with 0 exit fees:
Gas: SC 31.31p Unit Rate: 11.75p
Elec: SC 48.52p Unit Rate: 37.82p

e.on are offering the following for existing DD customers such as myself:---
E.ONnext Next Loyalty 24M Fixed Rate - June 2022 Issue 2
Monthly cost £106.28
Electricity Gas
Daily standing charge 42.24p 27.22p
Unit rate 40.60p per kWh 10.38p per kWh
Assumed annual usage 1,320kWh 4,681kWh
Estimated annual cost £690.18 £585.34---It is a two year fix but, crucially, it has no exit fees.Does that look like a decent deal that I should accept based on the current horror stories regarding the October estimate, bearing in mind that the £400 rebate should lessen the blow, somewhat?

I'm really not sure what to do, a couple of days ago my electricity quote was 53p and today its 48p, I'm really torn as I dont know how much a gamble it is taking a fixed rate deal now, I know its like looking into a crystal ball but I don't want to be paying higher prices for a couple of months if in the long run for the next 10 prices on variable might be cheaper? what would some of you do in a similar position?

Have you considered Agile for electricity and Tracker v3 for gas.
Agile please read up about it but it is capped at 35p for electricity only and you need a smart meter so if Octopus don't bring out another version before you switch to it that's a very good product.
Tracker v3 is capped at 40p and again one to move on fast before the bring out tracker v4
Or switch to someone new for a 14 month fix til Sep 2023 with no exit fees

It's not great. There's also a Loyal Octopus fixed rate that's a little bit cheaper. If you're ex-Avro it should be available to you. There's *also* Octopus's daily variable tariffs, Agile (electric only) and Tracker (electric and gas). They should work out cheaper than the Loyal Octopus fix. Agile is likely to be cheaper than Tracker but needs a smart meter with 30-minute metering. Both Agile and Tracker are experimental tariffs and need a bit more customer involvement than a typical fix does.Or you can leave Octopus and sign up with Green Energy UK on their Sparkling fixed-rate tariff. Not as cheap as Agile or Tracker but somewhat cheaper than either of the Octopus fixed rates.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile.
