Bhavv sorry but please could you let me have the link to your thread? I tried looking but can't find it. I'd appreciate that. Also the phone number for Eon Next is the 0808 501 5088 one presumably? Thank you kindly.
Just in case does not get seen, they are often willing to defer start dates of new tariffs for a month or so ........  https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/79273697/#Comment_79273697
I actually asked about that and they said they can't defer on this plan, which means it might not be available for another 30 days.

So just saw Martin's advice has now change to recommend fixing with current provider and shell who i've been dumped with following a collapse have stopped fixed price tariffs. Talk about being penalised through no fault of my own. (I did look at the one market place fixed deal last week but was unsure if it was worth it and now its gone just as the advice changes :( )
  • Just accepted a tariff as an existing British Gas customer - Exclusive Fixed Energy v18

It's 35% higher than the standard variable rate I was one.  Rates are fixed for 12 months with no exit fees:

    Gas unit = 10.503p/kWh
    Gas standing charge = 30.645p/day
    Elec unit = 36.657p/kWh
    Elec standing charge = 47.914p/day

I had to do it all through their web chat as I have online account.

Well finally some good news - I think/hope. I've just come off the phone to Eon Next and explained about seeing a loyalty plan on this forum (from Bhavv) and asked if I could have it as I've been with Eon about 20 years! He said he could do better and offered me a 2 year fixed plan £3 cheaper than the Fixed Online V14 one I mentioned in my first post, so £63.29 a month for 2 years (fixed) and no exit fees so if at any time they, or another company, make their prices cheaper, I'll be able to switch free of charge. It also won't come into effect until my existing plan finishes on 26th July when this will take effect then.

Phew another big worry off my mind. It might be a little more expensive than their variable, non fixed plan at the moment but I'm sure once the October hike comes along, it will be well worth it - I have a 14 day cooling off period apparently so if I spot anything of concern later, I'll speak to them about it. Just thought I'd let you know - damn, sorry I forgot to write down the name of the plan but anyone with Eon/Eon Next, it's not too late to call and ask. Phones open today until 4pm. :)

Sorry to hear that cheesemp. Must be very frustrating. :( Good luck finding a good one and for letting me know about Martin's new advice which I hadn't seen (yet!) but as it's what I just did, it makes me even happier. :)

I've just looked at British Gas website to see what Fixed offers they can offer me. I'm on a Day/Night electricity meter as I charge a car overnight, most nights.

    Looks like they can do:

    Electricity
    • Day 42.226 (+31% over what I am paying now)
    • Night 25.066 (+21%)
    • Standing 35.524 (-15%)

    Gas
    • Unit 11.261 (+53%)
    • Standing 24.48 (-10%)

This is on Fixed Jul23 v3. Seems to meet the criteria Martin specified, of being about 30% higher (although gas seems 50% higher?!?

They estimate my annual bill will be £9300  :#

£9,300? Wow but then again I'm a single householder in a bedsit. I'm still cutting back on usage as much as I can but at least I don't have to think about it until 26th July or a month after that when my first payment on the new contract comes into force. I thought my usage/annual charge was high - but for me it's always the electric that's high - gas only used in winter for heating and all year for cooking. Anyway good luck finding a good deal everyone.

Sorry, but a 2 year fix is currently no improvement over an one year fix.

Sure nobody knows what is coming, but predictions are that the prices might come down starting in April next year. Is there an exit fee on the tariff?

    @LarryR

I am guessing you didn't really buy into energy saving, turning everything off and working out what everything costs if your estimate is £9300

I am with British Gas, and enquired on the July23V2 price fix which Martin advised in recent MSE email. When i spoke to British Gas, I was told my payments would change within 48 hours. i am currently paying around £350 per month for joint fuel, on standard tariff and my payments would rise to £450 per month within 48 hours. I was told the offer ends at end of June.
Why would anyone change tariff now and increase payments by £100 per month at the moment.
What is the best way to change to a fixed Tariff, as this does not make sense to me?
