Received the following useless email reply today, presumably from my complaint of a month ago.
Dear xxx
Thank you for your email about your daughter's application.
I am very sorry for the late reply. I hope the matter was resolved.
Standard applications do not have a guaranteed service standard, and we are unable to confirm how long applications will take at this current time. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you.
The passport office will be in touch if they require any additional information.
If you applied online, you can continue to track your application here.
Regards,
Customer Service Email Team

Received a call from the passport office today, had to give them my reference number and explain to them the position. Spent 5 minutes telling them that we don’t know what they need from us then got passed to another team which then cut me off as they were too busy.

So last week we finally received a letter from the passport office. It didn't have a covering note or anything other than mummy's birth certificate and the Certified Copy of my daughter's birth certificate. No explanation whatsoever. In addition, we're also unable to login to the online tracking portal now, so presumably the application is dead and buried!! Useless.
On another note, my son's passport renewal is due to arrive today, less than 3 weeks after applying!0 -
If you sent a photocopy of your child’s birth certificate instead of the original full birth certificate with both parents details on,it wouldn’t be accepted. Maybe that was the letter was asking for. The letter would have been emailed to you not posted. The fact that you have your documents back means that the application has either been withdrawn or completed. Since you don’t have a passport I would presume it’s been withdrawn.0

As smudge 56 says certified copy is not accepted

You must send original documents or official copies of certificates. Photocopies are not accepted, even ‘certified copies’.

Yes we assume it's been withdrawn too. Would be nice to be told, definitely no email received however.
It wasn't a photocopy we sent, nor a signed photocopy or anything like that. It was a "Certified Copy Of An Entry" which is A4 and has both parents details on. This is signed in pen by the registrar. We unfortunately don't have the original and this is what we were given once we realised we'd lost the birth certificate.
So what I'm going to do now is order a replacement from the Registry office and hope that will be a different document to the one we've got and that is the actual reason it was rejected.0 -
