Interesting read! Unfortunately they don't do same day child passports.

Oh and I got cut off after an hour on that call!

Would anyone believe that in some countries they do passport renewals on the spot in a police station. Simply takes about a week to get an appointment.

You used to be able to go to the passport office to get passport issued. You did have to queue up.

When I had an unexpected trip to USA at short notice I was able to do that.

You can get your passport on the day of you use the online premium service.

The premium service is for adult passports; OP needs a child’s one.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I was not recommending for OP.  I was answering brianposter that there were facilities in this country also, to issue passports on the day.

I tried it once. All I ended up with was a letter of apology for failing to follow their own guidelines.
And that was thirty years ago.

    1. So the passport still hasn't come.
    2. We didn't receive a phone call 2 days before travel as promised by the escalations team.
    3. The letter apparently sent to us 19 April still hasn't been received.
    4. Our original documents haven't been received either.
    5. The online tracker is hopeless.
    6. The staff, whilst pleasant to speak with, are of no help whatsoever.
    7. The Passport Advice line is useless.
    8. The whole system and process is crap.
    9. Oh, and our 3 formal complaints have still to be responded to.

We've got another trip planned in December for which we need our 2 year olds first passport and a renewal for our 5 year old.

I am so !!!!!! off, disappointed, frustrated and all those things. Our holiday is ruined.

    - How can this be acceptable?
    - How can nobody be held accountable?

I don't for one minute believe the "unprecedented demand so suck it up princess" messaging from the Passport Office.

I hope whomever is in charge loses their job.

    !!!!!!.

Sorry to hear this @gadjo and thanks for the update . It must be so frustrating and disappointing especially when you applied in good time I hope you haven’t lost too much money on the holiday .

Currently seems to be luck of the draw - with some applicants receiving their passports in 2-3 weeks and others waiting 4+ months . If and when you finally get a resolution please report back .
