Faded / faulty carpet

Options
I've had a carpet fitted and at just 2 and a half years it's faded significantly.  The company have rejected my complaint as it's the daylight/sunlight thru the windows!  Their own inspector said he'd not known such a significant fade, it's hardly walked on either.  I've emailed the MD but no response whatsoever - as I bought the carpet in 2019 can I go down the route of 'chargeback'.  Any advice much appreciated.

Well Is it sunlight?  I know I have to close blinds in one of my rooms to stop this happening.

I close the curtains during the summer months during the day, but I would expect it to last longer than a couple of years to be quite honest.  It's supposed to be of a luxury quality and long lasting.  It's faded in areas not subject to direct sun rays and they don't say it should only be used in rooms with no windows.

They've actually stated UV rays in their report.

Carpets will fade in direct sunlight, we have a carpeted conservatory that gets the sunlight on it, move some mats and furniture and it is now a different colour underneath them.

I’ll bet there are hundreds of situations they don’t tell you not to do but common sense should dictate.  Is this a new home to you or did your previous carpet last longer?

yes I would expect some in direct sunlight, but not other parts, the only bits that hasn't faded are the bits covered up.  The fella that came to inspect it said he was embarrassed by the degree of fading.  I have other rooms carpeted with the same amount of sunlight and no fading yet, even though they're a bit older.  Perhaps it's not the quality it's advertised as.  Anyway, can I use chargeback or too late?

newly carpeted several rooms - this is the only one with a problem, perhaps because it's wool.  No others have faded yet, especially the cheaper one, it's about a year older and has sun on it all morning.   You really shouldn't have to keep your curtains closed all day every day.  I bought the carpet for it's beautiful colour.

For  a S75 claim you need proof that the carpet is faulty.

A report that it is faded due to sunlight will probably not be accepted as it being faulty.
