DH went out for some sort of gasket fixative ahead of taking his motorbike off to a rally(!) and was in Halfords next to Al's so popped in to get me lemons (from which I will make elderflower cordial) and apples (for the fruitbowl). £4.48. Two packs of lemons so I might practice lemon curd (or I might buy it and make cake instead!
)
I'm loving that your signature says how many expensive weeks you are anticipating this year @Soontobeoap

Morning all, managed a NSD yesterday. Unfortunately money already been spent this morning on biscuits and throat sweets for my eldest as he’s suffering with a cold. £2.70 spent making my total £77.40/150 and 12 days to go. Shouldn’t need to buy anything for a few days, going to try and stretch everything until Thursday again but may need the dreaded top up shop of milk and bread before then
Have a lovely Sunday.7 -
Spent about £7 since last update on basics such milk, bread, fruit and some toilet cleaner which I mistakenly thought I already had in stock. I'll need to do a stock up of cleaning stuff next month.
On a YS roll, after a very lean time, it was mainly bread rolls and a fruit loaf which will give me a week of breakfasts for 29p.

Suffolk_lass said:@Ginmonster when I make it too hot I stir a good dollop of Greek-Style yogurt into the finished hot soup in a cup/bowl (ie don't heat it) and that works really well to let it down a bit (cream works too, as a swirl) - stir it through as you go. Gives it a lovely, slightly tart tang to work against the parsnip too (I am notorious for too-hot butternut soup which is similarly sweeter)
I have another spend too confess to as I popped to Mr S to get some of the child's favourite cereal which they have on offer at £1.50 instead of the usual extortionate £2.70 a pack. I picked up 4 packs which should have meant a spend of only £6 but while I was there I also got asparagus, corn on the cob, a jar of garlic & ginger paste, 2 packs of smoked red Leicester which were reduced to £1.75 each as it looks like they're discontinuing them and 4 packs of graze flapjack bars which were also on offer at £1.50. All of it will be used but wasn't actually needed if you know what I mean. So, an extra £20.04 to add to the tally and a word with myself to keep away from the shops until I really need something.
Now at £110.30/£2006 -
@Suffolk_lass it's a good job school hols are only 12 weeks as that is when we have our Grandchildren and teacher visitors. Rarely have extra grocery expense outside of school hols! 🤣.
Managed a nsd today by having porridge made with water for breakfast as we only had enough milk for cups of tea. Will have to buy it tomorrow though. 😒

DawnW, yes, that's a bit how I manage our spends too.
Talking of managing, I wish Mr Van would also manage the ongoing shopping list, as he sprung it on me today that he has now run out of a certain breakfast cereal that HE quite likes occasionally , so we deviated slightly on our walk this morning to pass by the sm, and pooof.....£20.52 vanished on that little top up shop (how I hate them).
So, after a 10 minute browse, a few bars of chocolate, some toiletries and nuts came home with us.....grrrr!.
Total now at £130.18/£2007 -
405.65/600 I tend to leave my hubby to his own devices as well And he came outta shop with wrong drinking chocolate (DS dont like instant) £3 which will go next to the previous one he bought in error in food cupboard.21k savings no debt6

Well we are over our budget, it’s the 15th and we have 9 days until payday but with a stacked fridge and freezer I actually need to stay away from the shops.I’ve been buying ready meals for the freezer albeit YS that usually I wouldn’t touch so I do think that’s accounted for a fair bit and having the organic F&V box (albeit bloody amazing) has meant the costs have been higher. Not to mention the dairy free products too.Reverse planning is now required and 9 NSD…. Haven’t had those for a while!I’m currently £6.59 over and whilst I do need oat yogurt for my LO and probably milk for myself, if I can just get those I’ll come in just under £10 over which is palatable.That’s my challenge now! Oh and getting this baby out ☺️Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

When my roommates buy the wrong thing - that none of us will really eat - I donate it to our local food bank.8
