I got most of what I needed today, and compensated for if DD1 and GD visit. DD2 isn't coming at the weekend; because she doesn't have work. (She has handed her notice in as it's got too much with uni and travelling back here for work, especially when the trains are cancelled. So, she will look for something closer to her accommodation for the summer and long term.)
She is going to a Eurovision night in her house instead. I'm actually a bit jealous as I've loved Eurovision since first watching it, when Celine Dion won; but sadly none of my friends back then liked it, and neither was I in uni.
Anyways, first spend of my new month, saw me handing over £20.53 in A1di. Observations where that they had no cheap chopped tomatoes (I have a few), no Gherkins/antipasti, cheap instant noodles, bread flour and no accidentally vegan marg (for baking) . I think they are not stocking the latter four completely, because they weren't on their website either when I was working out prices, and no shelf edge label for them.
So, I went into H*meBargains for Gherkins. There were two on the shelf, so got both. Also, red jalapeños (which weren't on my list, but only ever see green), besan flour, artichokes and a big bag of curry powder for 99p. Admittedly these weren't all absolute essentials; but I'm grabbing things whilst I can at the moment, if its something I will use, as you just don't know from one shop to the next if somethings going to be obtainable or not. So that spend was £7.84.
Jalapeños, curry powder and flour at least will last ages. Im going to get the big bag of brown lentils next time I'm in there, as I've ran out and these also last ages. I seriously couldn't have fitted anything else in my trolley and it was SO heavy!!!
I've sat down to eat some mushrooms on toast, and now don't want to move, and I need to prep and put away the rest of the veg, and a few bits I've abandoned!GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £85.95/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Al’s shop done on my way home from a hospital visit this afternoon in the end - £14.01 which breaks down as:
£13.03 on stuff needed/ Wanted for this week
£0.98 on storecupboard - 2 x bags 29p pasta, 2 x packs 20p spaghetti.
The weekly spend included a bag of oven chips which will do another 1.5 portions at least yet, Grana Padano cheese, a piece of extra mature Gouda and the brioche buns for burgers tonight, two of which have gone in the freezer, so there’s more value to be had out of that lot yet.
We’ll do a trip to T’s tomorrow for other odds and ends - including the sausages I had planned to get in Al’s until I realised they were cheaper in T’s. Also more stocking up bits. I’m quite invested in trying to buy items now where I can only see prices going up.Today’s spend leaves us at £16.60/£200🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

@K9sandFelines we were going to watch Eurovision with my friend this year (my friends love it!) but in the end they can’t make it. So I suggested to DH we use our child free night night (kids are going to my mum’s, we don’t get many children free nights either) to go out on a date night. He was so disappointed to miss Eurovision we’ve swapped to going out for afternoon drinks and will come home for Eurovision 😂Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

I did manage a NSD yesterday however my husband spent 89p at work, so doesn’t really count as NSD and 89p added to the spends. Husband had good news at work yesterday but from first calculations we are going to be worse off financially now
Not sure what other reductions we can make at the moment, so the grocery budget may have to take another chop. At least the sun is out today!

Since the weather is so lovely we went for a little walk this afternoon and stopped in at the zero waste shop near us. I spent £4.23 on stuff I totally don't need but fancied as a treat - pecans to go in my morning porridge and dark chocolate covered ginger just because it's delicious. We ate a couple of pieces on the way home and really enjoyed it.
I used up all the sad and bendy veg today with half a tin of coconut milk I had leftover, some red lentils and some Thai red curry paste to make a big vat of soup and now I'm hoping it stops being so hot because I really don't fancy soup! There's zero room in the freezer so I'm going to have to just get on with it and eat the soup over the next few days.
Now at £90.26/£200 and it should be fine as I still seem to have plenty of fruit and veg. I think I can make it to next weekend before needing any more. Hope everyone's enjoying the sunshine!

Would it work as a chilled soup? Or do you think it definitely needs to be heated up.

I don't think I'd fancy it chilled to be honest. It's got parsnip in and somehow that doesn't seem like it'd work cold.6
