I’m going again for £160 food budget plus £40 bulk fund. That’s one adult, a 9 year old boy with hollow legs 🤦♀️, 2 cats and one dog. We don't eat meat at home and are trying to keep dairy down so that means some things are more expensive so I limit them.

Thank you elsiepac for doing this thread. As I keep saying it really does help keep us accountable, even if some of us blow the budget.
Our May budget is going to be £170.50.
The month goes 1st to the 31st.This is for two adults, my OH and I, and a chinchilla (works out at £2.50 each for us and 50p a day for the chinni) . Includes all food and drink (except alcohol), cleaning products, toiletries etc and all chinchilla items (food, hay, sand, treats etc.). Really hoping to come in budget or even better lower.OH and I have mostly been using up items in the freezers and the dry stocks since February and we still have alot to get through. Even though I've only been consuming and using what is in the home since OH went away and won't shop until the OH gets home near the end of the month I can see there is a lot more in our stocks than we previously thought. With that in mind we are continuing with a reduced budget for May despite increased costs. I will put a £10 cash buffer in if needed but I hope we will not need to use it.£0/170.50£170.50 leftI am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy5 -
Hi,
I’ve just found this board and would love to join. We, are myself, OH, two children (DD 7, DS 4), one dog and one cat.
We’re just at the end of Easter holidays which have been very spendy, day trips and my birthday. We’re generally ok at staying broadly within budget but it’s been slipping gradually since Christmas so a quick chat with OH and he’s onboard with tightening our belts. Food and eating out are our main overspend areas so I thought this board was a good place to start. We have a monthly budget of £390 for food and £150 for eating out. I am so impressed by some of the posts I’ve seen on previous months threads, hoping the frugality rubs off on me!We’re actually on holiday for one week in May which is all inclusive and budgeted for from our holiday pot so I’m going to reduce the food and eating out budget for the month to £300 and £100.
Really looking forward to being held accountable by this board 😁8 -
I'm joining again this month and am on a mission to use up stores. The freezer and cupboards are all too full and consequently you can't see what's there. I have a big tendency to hoard but I need to create some space otherwise I'm not using things because I don't know they're there!
£200 for me please for 2 adults & 1 child.

My total budget for the month is £120.
I've found I'm spending less on groceries and household stuff as I go along, and wasting less too. Seems like a good time to reduce my target! Prices are up, but I'm shopping smarter and being more realistic about my spending. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

We were supposed to be doing the weekly shop tonight but I'm not feeling great (combination of tooth infection and then I fell over and hurt myself 🤦♀️) so OH popped out and just got bits for tonight and tomorrow. Hoping I'll be feeling up to it tomorrow!
£7.91 on a pizza, 20 coffee pods, 1 litre of juice and 6 litres of fizzy drink.
Meal plan this week is:
1. Pizza (mozzarella, tomato and pesto, OH has got a YS ham, mozzarella and olive pizza)
2. Katsu curry with Quorn nuggets, roasted sweet potato and rice
3. Chipotle sweet potato and bean stew with cheese dumplings (this is a new recipe for us - trying to branch out!)
4. Takeaway - likely chinese
5. Out for the evening
6. Hopefully at my parents' house for dinner
7. Thai curry noodle soup with Quorn chicken and will use whatever veg we have in/can get YS
£7.91/£230.
