Yes, but I was wondering whether it is possible to pay more, so MGFV £10k, but total outstanding finance at trigger date, say, £1k.  The finance product is still active.  If the customer triggers the MGFV, the finance company need to repay the difference to the customer.
I think what happens after a certain point in overpayment is that the finance company will reduce the term rather than the payment. To get around this. I think. But don’t quote me on that.
Yes, i think you're right there.  Initially they will allow you to reduce the payments or the term, your choice but after a certain point they would reduce the term.

Thank you all.  100% agree that nearly 7% is a high interest rate but Mini’s are desirable cars.  The Mini dealership was heaving when I went in.  So they offer no discounts, 7% interest rate, no dealer contributions and know that if you say no there will be others who say yes.  Also I believe Mini now have an issue with build dates….

So paying cash would clear me out.  So am perhaps looking at a personal lease.  I have one at present and am very happy with it but know I won’t get it again.

Now thinking of a snazzy Fiesta!

Would you not consider a personal loan?

You seemed to be implying you could / would put down more than the £2K ish proposed for their deals, so even say £5K down and a £25K loan at 2.9% would get you a much cheaper overall car?

The downside of Ford's equivalent - the ST is that it only comes in manual.

So went into Ford - they aren’t taking any new orders and don’t know when the books will open again.  Mercedes was just too expensive.  Nissan Micra top of the range was very nice but seriously thinking about a Honda Jazz Hybrid which apparently will come in beginning of Nov.  Unless anyone knows anything different!

You’ve gone from mini to Ford to Mercedes………to a……..Honda Jazz. I mean if you’re happy. There is nothing at all wrong with a Honda Jazz but I mean I’ve never seen anyone under the age of 70 buy one….

Are you just desperate to buy something? That doesn’t seem sensible really to be so set on a mini and then go for a Honda Jazz they are polar opposites in every way. You are going from super cool to stairlift….no offence to Jazz owners like and I don’t care about that stuff myself. But I’d have never considered a mini….

So I was all set to order a Mini but they aren’t taking orders! Ford are the same.  That is why I am jumping around so much…. It’s frustrating as it used to be you ordered a car and a few months later it turns up.

Now with chip issues, parts being made in Ukraine etc and it’s become a bit of a project.  I have to give my car back in Nov hence the messing around! I rather liked the Jazz…. The Mercedes A class was nice but again could tell me how long a order would take.

What I don’t want to do is place an order with say Mini ( who say I can place an order but it wouldn’t be confirmed for a few months and the price might change!) and then come Sept find that it’s all been cancelled.

Agree on the difference between the Jazz and any of the other vehicles mentioned.  Also agree on target audience for the Jazz.

Lead time for cars will only extend for the foreseeable, even more so if capacity gets directed to military resources.

What's your current car? What's the final payment? Could you not just buy that (guessing it's final payment is a lot less than its current value) and keep it until you can get the car you want?

EDIT: just read the OP and you say it's a lease. Any chance they are offering the option to purchase and at a sensible price?

Hi, my current car is a Mini Countryman Cooper Sport S auto in red with a black roof.

I don’t really want to buy the Mini but it’s a personal lease as opposed to a PCP.

I honestly just want a hot hatch of some sort preferably automatic. I do like Mini’s - have had two Coopers before and also a Audi A1 and a Mercedes B class when the kids were growing up.

Sorry, I know this is a money saving site so it might not be the right forum to discuss hot hatches!!

The Jazz is the polar opposite of hot.
