We are in the process of moving house and there is a potential of Japanese Knotweed at where we are looking to buy.
A photograph has been obtained, can anybody help with identification?
Thank you

Difficult to tell from this angle, but I’m almost confident it’s not. The leaves don’t have the same shape as JK, ao unlikely. Also, in spring, japanese knotweed doesn’t have properly grown leaves.
having said that, when in doubt, get a survey. Your regular building survey will cover that, but definitely mention it as something to look out for.0 -

These are leaf shapes for Japanese Knotweed, with leaves branching off the stem in a zig-zag arrangement. The new shoots appear in spring - can you see these?1 -
Thanks for the responses so far. I have another couple of photographs if that helps. Copied below. The leaves certainly look different, there is a bamboo type 'stem' which is also photographed. This is dead currently.

That looks very like dock leaves, not at all like JKWI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. There's an app called PICTURE THIS which I use for my garden. When I put these photos in, it comes up with doc leaves.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....2 -
Thanks all, good to get some others opinion. The potential was surprisingly raised by a lenders surveyor. So I need to get this sorted with them and hopefully a second opinion or an alternate lender.
Thanks again!2 -
Were the photos or an indication of location on the survey? Could they have been referring to a different plant that you haven't spotted?Jon199559 said:Thanks all, good to get some others opinion. Looks like dock to me1

We reviewed CCTV and that's the spot that the photographs were taken. They were not willing to reassess last we spoke but we will look to contact them again before trying another lender.0

I have an ongoing battle with knotweed, and it’s not started to come up yet this year. Although that possibly depends where in the country you are.
I’d agree with the others though, your photos don’t look like it to me.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
