Thanks for the above - those look good so I've ordered two. :)

My clothes go out on the line whenever possible.  The west of Scotland is always very rainy, especially so this past winter.  I've never had any bird poo on my washing despite me having loads of feeders which are mostly rammed with birds.  The smell of freshly air-dried washing is intoxicating. I'm toying with the idea of buying a long folding airer to use outside when the threat of rain is unpredictable, that way I can just go out, fold it up and bring it all indoors quickly.

Winter drying takes place in the guest bedroom, on an airer and with the dehumidifier running for a couple of hours. Never had a tumble drier, never would, I've no need of one, however know that for others it's a 'must'.

The neighbours aren't offended by us sunbathing so they aren't bothered about seeing our knickknacks.  Actually they're probably relieved.

@landgirl100   I don't know if we've got particularly considerate birdies round here (I suspect not, from the amount of poo they deposit on the car) but in the 20 years I've lived here, I have only once had a bird poo on my clean washing.
As for rain - that's why I use a carousel thingy for underwear and other small items, you just have to grab it off the line; and of course I keep an eye on the weather ready to hoik everything in sharpish if rain is threatening. But on a day like today (brilliant sunshine) it's a no-brainer.

@Gers When I was married to the ex, he kept promising he'd put up a washing line for me, but, as with all his promises, he never actually did it. So I had one of those standing concertina airer thingies, and I used to put that outside on the patio to dry the washing.

We hang our washing out, weather permitting. I couldn’t care less if our neighbours can see it!

Same. In fact we used to have one particularly prudish neighbour and my other half would delight in hanging his pants in full view of their bedroom window  :D

I brought up 3 children on terry nappies without a tumble dryer, my mother did the same with 6 children.
I used to peg nappies on the line at 6am every morning if it wasn't raining and frequently took them in frozen solid in winter but that made them super soft once aired
And neither of us ever owned a dishwasher
Only time I have ever been embarrased to hang out laundry was when the odd kids sock got missed and the nappies were slightly blue or pink :)

Washing always on the line whenever possible here. Average 2 loads a day. All big items on the 2 long lines and smaller items pegged on the racks as easier to grab if it rains.

Washing is aired in tumble drier for 10 minutes if needed or on rack in front of a radiator. Always have windows open in the house and use the damp absorbers in every room. Toying with idea of getting a dehumidifier.

Does not bother me if the neighbours see my underwear. If they have nothing better to do than look at my washing that's their issue.

    I also don't own a dishwasher either.
