Line dry or tumble dry - or rather, in sight or hidden?

Would you line or airer dry your laundry for free, potentially in full view of neighbours or family, or tumble dry at a cost so your washing is hidden from sight?

Floss, definitely air dry where possible - i.e. when the weather allows. Could care less who sees my smalls, if they ('they' being potentially only two sets of neighbours) are that interested, let them look. I'm sure they could care less either.I wanna be in the room where it happens10

I would answer your question but the neighbours might see it

Outside in the fresh air whenever possible. I have lines at the back and the front - mostly the front is for airing duvets and drying sails as there isn't space at the back. But for the first few years I only had the line at the front and one neighbour didn't like it - despite the fact that she could only see it if she tried hard! Apparently you shouldn't dry laundry at weekends. The other neighbours thought it was hilarious.6

Why on earth would you be worried about your neighbours seeing your clean undies? Seems a bizarre issue to me...

If I have to look at my neighbours undies they can look at mine
I have a rotary line so my smalls do tend to end up in the middle but only because I want the outer longer lines for bigger stuff.
I don't have the room for a tumble dryer in my kitchen and I'm too tight careful with my money to use one

I was going to suggest hanging up everything aside from bra and pants, letting them dry inside, but then your neighbours would think you go commando.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.11

What’s wrong with your clothes that you worry about them being seen? Pin them up and let them flap.4

I have been happily drying stuff on airers/washing lines for 30 odd years, and before that my mother did it for me.
Frankly if someone is that interested in it then good luck to them, seems unlikely they've not seen a pair of knickers before.8 -
Washing goes outside if the ground is dry. My undies go in the inside of the rotary airer, heavier stuff outside to assist in drying. When we have a run of wet weather it's hung on airers in the spare bedroom with a dehumidifier running. I've never had a tumble drier, didn't want the running costs. Used terry nappies for all 3 children.3
