I know its a little different but i served a S8 on 14th Feb and i have a court hearing on 23rd May so its not as long as people are saying
    S8 is very different.....

  • My LL served me a S21 after nearly 15 years out of the blue because they want to sell.
I have no rent arrears, not even a late payment.
So have been looking for somewhere else to live, I didn't think it would be a problem  but it has.
I've tried to remain in contact with the LL (now though a letting agent) saying I might need a month longer (should be out by 23rd Apr), but not heard a peep till today.
They have refused the extra month. On the call I did explain that I simply can't leave as that makes me deliberate homeless.

So I am wanting to know a  rough minimum time-frame that it will take a court to issue the eviction notice.
Have you actually phoned the court in the area where you are located and see if they can give you a rough guide?
  • This is why I hate private landlords with a passion, they can kick you out anytime, with private renting, there is no security, you can end up homeless any time.

I am with a Housing Association and I had my flat since 2012, I would never give up my social housing flat over private, not a chance! My flat is mine for as long as I want it and pay my rent.

Private renting should be scrapped, end off!

The landlords are just following the law. It's Thatcher (and every government since) that you should be annoyed at....
Although I've been renting privately for decades and never once had to leave a property unless I wanted to - you can't paint all LL's with the same brush. Most of them prefer long term tenants as they don't have to deal with voids and the costs of finding someone new.

I disagree, it can benefit some. Not everyone wants / needs a long term home especially if you are looking to find somewhere to settle. Private renting is useful for those who need shorter term rental accommodation.
Not everyone who rents can't afford to buy. I know several people who could afford to buy  buy choose to rent, if they had social housing they would be taking homes from those who would struggle to buy.
The problem is that there is never the supply of social housing to meet the demand so your proposal could create homelessness.

May you find your sister soon Helli.

I called them up  today (Stoke) and if I heard correctly it would be about 2 months in total before the hearing.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

Have you checked if the section 21 is valid? (see comment on first page by canaldumidi)
