I wouldn't bother sending a cheque or if you do - make sure you state that it is °NOT an "admission of guilt", but an act of duress to get them off your back.
I tried to do this with DCBL legal. I informed them I stood accused of "parking" for 20 minutes. The tariff was £1.50 per hour so I was willing to chuck them a quid - not because I'd actually Parked ,but was willing to give them more than the 50p "loss" I'd have potential cause had their been an influx of vehicles trying to park there! A £1 for nothing is a good deal! By not taking it they cost the PPCs hundreds! it was an act of duress and not guilt. I was willingly prepared to do this to get to Cease contacting me and continuing to invade my privacy. Much like I'd chuck a quid to one of those aggressive beggars who corner you at the station! Which effectively is the same thing! Dcbl jobsworth phone centre bully didn't know what to make of it. Told me they wouldn't take any less than their (unlawful) £260 and that they'd get it off me court! What a mug! 😆
Anyhow I digress- I wouldn't bother but if you do, stress that it's a way of getting them off your back ang offer no apologies as you've done nothing wrong.2 -
I agree. Don't pay or offer to pay the claimant. I say again, if you want to pay the parking fee to anyone, it should be the landowner as it is they who would have received it in the first place.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks3

Going to court is a bit of a lottery. There are judges that seem to think that the Defendant should have engaged with the Claimant. The Claimant's representative will also play on this and the use of Internet defences.
What you may want to stress is that PPL is an ex-clamping company and that any negotiation would be futile. The ex-clampers such as PPL and Excel/VCS moved into private parking when clamping was banned. They are some of the most litigious and aggressive of the parking operators. It's not like dealing with Marks and Spencer or John Lewis. Try to convey that to the judge.
IAS appeals are also as futile as they are not independant and have been described in Hansard during the debate on Sir Greg Knight's PMB as "putting Dracula in charge of a blood bank".
Perception of the PPC's changes as soon as you get a PCN.
