Neighbour who has a private right of way is parking and leaving their things there

    If you are happy for a car to park there, why not the bikes? I imagine that will come up. I suggest you make it clear that anything you *and the other freeholder* decide to allow is for a specified trial period. 

    Because if he moves the bikes and the containers out of the way there is enough space for the car to tuck itself in and not block access to the garage/garden. Currently the car is being left right at the entrance of the right of way land.

    But the bikes there and no car would also work for you?  Something to think through before you start a discussion.
    Yes that would be the best case scenario. I’m just trying to think of ways as to sort of balance out the blow so that he doesn’t straight up refuse if I say you can’t do any of these things you’re doing at the moment.
    The obvious solution is to store the bikes in the garage. You could give him the option of either the container or the car, both on a temporary basis as presumably if both garages were in use the area would be needed to reverse into. If he refuses to change his behaviour you could partially block the access leaving room for the bikes to pass but not a car. Its difficult to claim access rights  while blocking others access.

    He said in an earlier post the other joint freeholder was asked by the motorcycle shed owner if she would sell the freehold to him and she said no.

    That’s correct but unless I decide to sell my share as well it can’t be sold as there’s two cofreeholders to the land. I suppose what I should’ve said is he asked her and the previous cofreeholder to purchase it and they both said no.

    I was thinking that if the op can park on the road, then so can the neighbour.

    Is there anywhere else for him to realistically park his bikes? I appreciate that’s not your problem but it might give some indication to what his reaction will be. If the garage was his only parking and he’s now converted it I expect he’ll be extremely resistant to any change, despite how unreasonable this is. Saying this it’s a terrible idea removing the only parking from your house so I assume he has somewhere else.

    It’s even more cheeky given he has no ownership of this land what so ever. He’s clearly tried to buy it in order to use it how he wants, failed and figured he’d just do what he wants to anyway.

    I agree with the others here, your first step it to politely approach him. Before you do this though work out what you want as a solution and stick to it. Given what you’ve said so far I suspect he’ll tell you where to go so you also need to have a think about what you’ll do in this situation too.

    What are your plans? Are you planning on living there a while or moving in a few years?

    Just to clarify there isn’t enough space to fit a modern car inside the garages unless you drive one of those smart cars. They’re just there for storage purposes.
