If they manage all before the end of September I think they deserve a medal. After all they have allowed the energy companies until October to get themselves organised & they are accustomed to having negative sums showing on their accounts unlike the local council. Let's see how many energy companies get it right shall we. After all they are the ones making all the money out of this. Plus of course the extra the government are making out of the VAT. No wonder they wouldn't remove/reduce it.

Delayed indefinitely where we are. The local press announced a delay at our local council. The speculation from the local press is late Spring or early Summer but I suspect it will be as last minute as possible.0

I suspect the real reason for the feet dragging is cashflow, not some "computer difficulty".If the Council pay £150 to every household they are out of pocket until the Government refund them. No doubt the refund date is October or later, so it would be rather foolish to pay out much before then.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I think we can assume they haven't done then. The councils know they will get the blame whatever goes wrong so they are not going to walk into that on purpose & anyway how are they going to know how much needs refunding until March 23.

Our council was so inundated with direct debit applications that they werent able to process them. I opted to pay over 10 months, but because it wasnt processed I'm getting a new bill for 9 months. It really is messy.0

Not a difficult calculation.

Isn't one of the restrictions it being the only property you own? Also maybe the council has never broken it down like that as it must change with every new property & property sale where additions have been made

Where have you heard that? I thought this was deliberately a blanket 'every band A-D home' to keep it simple and so make it as easy as possible to administer.badmemory said:Isn't one of the restrictions it being the only property you own?0 -

The reason I asked that question was because the bill was in her partner's name, but she was paying it, I was wandering why she was not added to the bill, rather than just amending the Direct Debit to a different account when she moved in.Ultrasonic said:
My understanding is this doesn't make any difference to getting the £150?MattMattMattUK said:
However to check, is the council tax for the full amount, no single occupancy discount? There's no particular reason for more than one name to be on the bill, and AIUI many councils only have the ability to have one person named on the bill. However, you made a good point. With two people involved in paying bills it is easy to forget something like cancelling a single person discount if circumtances have changed recently. It would be sensible to check whether the information given to the council is correct - and get it amended if not - rather than waiting for it to be picked up as a result of an audit, or someone/something at the council noticing a discrepancy whilst processing these payments.0
