I had a spare double electric blanket knocking around which I have covered the leather sofa chair with and thrown a blanket on top. I was quite sceptical about it working, but putting it on high for 15mins and then knocking it back down to the lowest setting really has made a significant difference, especially if I cover my legs with an extra blanket to trap in the heat. So that, in conjunction with my foot warmer, keeps me toasty even when my living room dropped to around 15C over the recent cold days in the late evening after the storage heater had lost its charge.
That's interesting ... I've got one still in its box from a couple of years ago (I use a combination of duvets and a heated throw for the bed which work really well) ... I'm going to try that  :).

A simple but excellent idea, thanks. I have a rarely used single electric underblanket in the spare room I could to the same with.

On a slightly different approach, we've always used a sheepskin mattress protector, but it's now very old and not looking it's best.

With all this talk of heated electric blankets / toppers that we've never really liked the thought of, we stumbled upon a "Silentnight Heat Genie Self Heating Mattress Topper" - no electricity required...

Very happy to report it's a definite upgrade from our old and well trusted sheepskin mattress protector, coupled with the 13.5tog duvet it's a much warmer experience.

Prices are quite high at the moment (surprise surprise) but you can generally find them on offer with good discounts.

Just be sure to get the 'heat genie' version:

The Heat the Human guide recently had an update.

As it's getting chilly now, I'd love to hear any new tips you have. Are you trying any different ways of warming up this year?
