Civil Enforcement Ltd - DCBL - Notice of Debt Recovery
Comments
-
@Coupon-mad @bargepole - Thank you for taking the time to assist with this.
Prior to reading your comments I managed to contact the CEL legal team on the number I provided above. Having explained the situation to them, quoting my conversation with CCBC, they were rather quick to tell me that they would not pursue to 'lift the stay' and for that reason they have cancelled the charge. They have also contacted DCBL to call off the debt recovery chasers. I requested a letter to my new address confirming this which they are going to send. I'll contact CCBC again as I'm assuming they will want to see this?
Obviously this is great news for me, but as mentioned above this is extremely alarming and unlawful and I hope others don't fall into the trap.
@BobsBurgerss FYI.1 -
@DoffDoff I’m so glad you created this post and sorry for jumping onto it but it’s helped so much. I’ll do the same and call CEL, I’ll try and find another number because I think that one charges (I have minutes but I’ve placed a cap on my phone and it won’t let me call the number). To think I was going to pay £288.29 and then £108 for the N244! Thank you all so much, I’ll let you know if I get the same outcome.Thanks1

@BobsBurgerss yes please do. I'd be interested to know.
If you don't want to call them you can always email them - legal@ce-service.co.uk

Best to do it in writing; a phone call is worth the paper it is printed on!1

If you don't want to call them you can always email them - legal@ce-service.co.ukI’ve also left a message on the 0115 822 5020 number which said I should receive a call back within 24 hours. There are no other number I could find unfortunately. If I don’t hear back tomorrow I’ll just have to call the premium number. Thanks

You would really be better to follow the advice of @Le_Kirk above. Keep it all in writing. Phone call is worse than uselessThe pen is mightier than the sword ..... and I have many pens.2

@Le_Kirk @Trainerman - agree to have it in writing would be the best option.
In my case it's a little late for that, but I got the result I wanted and as long as I get a letter confirming cancellation from CEL I'm happy with that.1 -

If neither of you get the charges cancelled, and both are agreeable to share personal details, I suggest you and BobsBurgerss pm each other so you can each quote the others case number and show their respective identical letters to the CCBC.
You may even want to do this anyway to make the court aware in case there are other victims out there.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks2 -
So I’ve called Civil Enforcement Legal today and they said the same as @DoffDoff about them contacting DCBL to stop any action and I asked for confirmation by email (they said I should get this within an hour or so) and it’ll be a notice of discontinuance.@Fruitcake thank you, I’ll email to follow up on it.I’ve also spoken to CCBC regarding updating my address and removing the old address which they’ve confirmed. They also said that as the case is marked as stayed, CEL have to request to lift this and if they do they could still proceed or they can cancel.Either way it would be best to file a defence (N9B form I think?) as CCBC currently have a 3 week backlog to strike out claims but the defence form would be processed quicker.Thanks1

@BobsBurgerss my understanding is that the notice of discontinuance (which I believe is form N279) actually goes to CCBC as well as a copy being sent to us.
I guess the question is - if they send this form to CCBC do they then still have the option to apply to lift the stay or does that then become void?
