Buying a Mattress that lasts ?

However, for over £1300, I should expect it !I quite liked the idea of a "Premier Inn" mattress, but the small print says what they ship is not exactly the same as what they supply to Premier Inn.
JRBD might have their biases though even with that this article seems decent

Memory foam is a sweat-inducing gimmick IMHO - forget it.0 -
I purchased an Otty mattress 3 years ago. I highly rate it!1

My daughter chose an OTTY too and it is really comfortable, I have slept on it. Only drawback for me was the cool gel top, can't use an electric blanket.£216 saved 24 October 20140

Their comparison with a Premier Inns massage is interesting. Whilst buying a mattress that I know is reasonably comfortable from hotel stays could make sense, it fails on at least 3 points:1 The retail mattress is not the same as the hotel mattress2 I don't know how often Premier Inns change the mattresses, but JRBD suggest every 12 months.3 An attached topper is surely worse than a detachable one which could be replaced ?2 -
Vi-Spring gets my vote also. Had mine for the last 8 years and never had an issue. If you find the correct tension mattress you won't need a topper. The good thing about buying from this brand is that you get a 90 day trial. If you decide on a medium and don't get on with it, after 60 days let them know and you can swap out for a softer or firmer feel.
Worth every penny in my opinion.0 -
I went to a local independent bed store that sold their own as well as different makes. Tested loads of them and settled on their own brand Egyptian cotton sprung pocket mattress. I then bought an expensive natural cotton topper to protect the mattress. I hate being too hot in bed, so thought natural products might be better for me.https://www.bedfactorydirect.co.uk/natural-collection-6000
Thankfully I actually preferred it to the more expensive ones, and has been very comfortable.
They deliver nationwide and as well as excellent prices the service was great.
We also bought ottoman bed divan base from them which has been brilliant for storage.Money SPENDING Expert0 -
Read that link to natural-collection, never really thought about recycling side of them. It will be on my list now the next time I purchase one.0

It's very odd, how anecdotally I hear some of the "mattress in a box" brands do not last and certain traditional brands are excellent.Meanwhile, Trustpilot scores are excellent for the Mattress in a Box brands & poor for the traditional brands.Obviously there is scope for score manipulation and some brands sell products other than mattresses, which will may modify the score.
