If you do have a significant credit then on the face of it the DD increase is unwarranted and EDF should reduce it as per your request. If they so no then ask them to explain why and post back with the answer.0

I can really not see how you got to a credit of over 300£ by paying a debit order of 23£. Are you getting WHD, but using oil or wood to do your heating?
I assume you are electric, and even with a very low standing charge you are at 6£, making it £17 for use, or 204£ pa at 15p would give you 1360KWh for the year, but nothing to build up a credit.
Can you please confirm your rate, standing charge and how much electricity you use per year?3 -

I do wish this forum would update with new posts while I'm typing like others do! I regularly miss things cross-posted here as a result.

@mrplatypus
Did you recently move provider, with a credit?
Are you getting regular bills, and are meter reading showing?
You may be in credit if no bills have been created for a few months (which can happen when switching providers).0 -
From OP opening post
"I am in the middle of a two year fixed rate with them.".
That is indicating to me that he is not in credit but debit as the DD of £23.70 is not meeting the cost which should have been nearer £50 - but until comes back with meter readings we can but guess
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
I am currently £267 in credit with EDF.Unfortunately I have used £297 of gas that I have not yet been billed for.With EDF's 6 monthly billing cycle account credit means very little.0

@Robin9,
I have been with EDF for a while.. 4, and be 5 years now. I have never had any problems with them till this recent increase in the amount of money that they take for the gas and electric.
When my previous fixed rate deal came to an end, I shopped around and this new deal followed on from the previous offer/deal with them.
Again: The original payments were more than adequate, no excessive use, I never had any form of shortfall .
The only reason for the price rise is/was because of the rise of the price cap.
My point is that from always being in credit, never a shortfall, why then now has the direct debit tripled, from £23.70 to £77.00..
