My rise 300% edf energy

Options
I understand my bill was £23.70 a month..
EDF have since upped the payment to £70.00 a month, very nearly trebled it..

I am in the middle of a two year fixed rate with them..

Following on from Martin's advice, I have messaged them asking why has my direct debit nearly trebled.

I await their reply.

If you are on a fix your DD may still need to increase if your current payments aren't covering your actual usage. Are they?

Obviously what you care about is how much you pay but for info. a trebling of cost is a 200% increase, not 300%.

Can you give us your actual annual consumptions please -   in KWh not £

    Electric or Gas

What was your tariff ?  Unless you were on a fix your energy cost will have risen significantly -  300% is quite possible

Edit - from your last bill - are you in credit or debit ?

You may be paying £23 a month, but if you are using £50 a month that's £27 a month which needs to be repaid.

    What do your bills say?

A dd rebalance will ensure the debt is paid off and you are paying for what you are using.
  • Ultrasonic,

    23.70 multiplied by 3 is 71.10...
    To me that is trebling..

I am in credit by £200, so I am covering the eventual bill.

This is where confusion start what you ahve actually been asked for is you yearly usage in kWh for the energy you use Elec and gas or just elec if that's the case and the rate you pay per kWh on your current contract and the standing daily charges you pay.

Also if you are currently in credit or debit on your account.

With all that u formation we can answer your query but a direct debit amount does not answer the questions asked

@mrplatypus  Sorry to question you a little more  -  but are you really £300 in credit -  ?   Of that £23.70 some £6 is standing charges and even if you consumption is say £10  (ie 60 KWh a month/ 700 KWh a year) then you have been overpaying for about 8 years.

Please give us your actual annual consumption
