Do you mean £27 a week for contacts rather than per month? How come you can't wear a visor with glasses?

    food 52 per week
diesel 35 per week to get to work and supermarket only

By my reckoning you should have around £400 - £500 a month spare from what you have listed in your monthly expenses above.
I did the maths and I think EssexHebridean missed these as weekly costs

By my calculations you have £151.29 a month for emergency fund / yearly bills that will increase to £177.92 once the TV licence is up to date.

Are the course fee for your son?
What's the distance  to / from work? would cycling be an option? - getting rid of the car would save £180 a month plus the annual costs
Correct - I did - well flagged - I'll edit my post to reflect! Thank you!

Probably because glasses fog up - it's a really tricky issue to cure that, too!

I know badly fitting masks cause glasses to fog up, but struggling to understand how a visor would and if so, why the dental practice can't buy visors that can be used with glasses.

The contact lenses are £27 per month and I can't wear a visor and mask and glasses and PPE as it gets too much
to cope with....I would prefer to have the contact lenses than eat....it's a luxury, I know

Ok not impossible to cycle but it would be hard. Might be worth exploring other options though, there is liftshare https://liftshare.com/uk for car pools, or public transport? (not always the easiest I realise!) The good news is its going to get easier once the course is paid for and that's potentially going to help you to earn more so its worth stick with it.
