It certainly escalated quickly. I did not expect to be raising a fraud dispute with the company. They have refused to cancel my subscription, have blocked me on Twitter and are not responding to any communication. Not good.

Like others, Biercompany set up a subscription without my consent, claiming I had won their competition for a free gift.
As soon as I received notice of the monthly subscription I emailed to cancel. I sent several cancellation request emails since 4th April to various Biercompany email addresses, including the customer support address provided by them. I also attempted to cancel via my customer account on their website. This only prompted a pop up advising to call or email customer support.
So far they have not accepted the cancellation.
They have now taken a payment 28 days after I first contacted them to cancel.
I have now raised a dispute via my bank.

Despite my cancellation requests Biercompany today emailed claiming to have dispatched an order to me via Yodel. Tracking number is so far not recognised so I don't even know if this is true. If it arrives I plan to refuse the delivery.

    What else can I do?
Silly question but did you actually call the customer service number?

Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

Virtuous action, now, at this very moment.

Willing acceptance - now, at this very moment - of what you can’t change
  • I couldn't get through.

Regardless, they give the option on their website to cancel via email and I wanted written evidence so I persisted with emails.

I refused delivery of their goods yesterday. Today they finally responded to one of my emails, therefore acknowledging my request, yet still telling me to call if I want to cancel. I believe it is not legal to insist the only way to cancel is by telephone? Especially when they publish a customer support email address informing customers of the option to email and cancel.

My bank has refunded my money and blocked Biercompany from taking future payments.
