Does this mean we can get the free box and then cancel the subscription? Or if we claim the free beer we are stuck paying £22.95 a month for a period of time?

Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

Virtuous action, now, at this very moment.
    (Wisdom, Courage, Self-control, Justice)

Willing acceptance - now, at this very moment - of what you can’t change

    The terms say:

    --

SECTION 22 - FREE BOX PROMOTIONS
Any free box received as a result of a promotion for any subscription product, please note that you can only cancel 5 working days after receiving the package

    --

This makes it seem like you can get the free box and cancel without being stuck, BUT I can't find confirmation of when the charge comes out for the next month. I will email the company to ask.
  • Thanks for that detail, they didn't make it clear you can only cancel 5 days after the box is delivered. My wife and I fell for this today, should have realised it was too good to be true, but we've ordered from them before and it's a competition they actually offer, so it seemed plausible. It's only when we went on their Facebook page and saw all the other people asking the question and having had the same email that the penny dropped.

They've now blocked my wife from their Facebook page for posting comments about it, not that there was anything rude or incorrect in anything she'd said. I feel for the people manning their phones today, think they're going to be getting a lot of complaints!

It's a shame because we really liked the beer we'd had from them before, don't think we'll be using the company again.
  • I too fell for this and am not happy. As has been said it’s a competition that they run so why would I not believe an email saying I have won? I think they have signed me up under false pretences bordering on fraud and I will be cancelling

Did you all receive the company's follow-up 'UPDATE: SLOOFLIRPA' email?

I'll drop the method of cancellation here in case it's useful to anyone looking for answers on this topic:

    (From the Bier Company email:)
If you want to cancel your free box, simply contact: customerexperience@biercompany.co.uk.

If anyone has any problems cancelling, please update this thread. Thank you.
That does state cancel the free box, it doesn't mention the subscription?

If you cancel they will cancel the "free" box too, either way they have caused a lot of problems as their facebook page is blowing up.
Think it's about time the comping fairy remembered where I am! lol

Noticed a lot of people saying they were removing comments and people, I don't think they have done themselves any favours with this.

I received this email too, but I stayed off my email until midday, as I hate April Fools day, luckily I saw the second email first.
    I believe nothing on April 1st. 😔

@kittycatty would it be possible for you to edit your title to something a bit more relevant, as if anyone else joined the subscription, they can see the thread and know what to do.

Not sure what you could rename it but something like 'Bier Company - April Fool email [Please Read]' could work.

I hope everyone manages to make sure they aren't subscribed to anything, absolutely awful 'joke'
Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.

Changed the header, thanks I didn't even think about that, but do you know how to work the search function on here, I end up going round in circles and give up lol xx

I usually find it okay, but have had issues before.

For this I'd type in one word, probably the most 'rare' word from a post, so for this I'd search 'Bier' click Discussions, Sort by: Newest, Category: Compers Chat Corner, untick ideas and polls. Filter, then I usually have the post I am looking for, if it hasn't come up before.
Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.
