Neighbours humming hot tub
Comments

@propertyhunter I've tried noise cancelling headphones. The noise permeates through. I believe it is the motor humming off the deck and the position of my house, it makes a droning noise that sounds like a violin is the only way I can explain it.
@comeandgo next door came over and said she couldn't hear anything but she was in the kitchen with the freezer going, my husband said he feels something but doesn't hear it.0 -
Genuine question, why would a hot tub be on 24/7, surely you turn it on just before and whilst using it? (I've never used one). Isn't keeping a huge amount of water hot all day/night incredibly wasteful and expensive?2

@SavingPennies_2 I assume that the pump or motor is constantly running to keep it filtered and at temperature? When I stepped on the deck even with the bubbled turned off and the cover on I could feel the whole deck vibrating.
@Slithery thank you for that comment. I am looking into this, but this may put off potential buyers if they hear the drone too1 -

I'm guessing they haven't insulated it, as soon as it has been turned on my house hums, every single room. I've always had a noise that came and went being close to industrial but this is evil and none stop 24/7.
I approached them and I was screamed at and told it wasn't the hot tub. She stormed into my house saying there was no noise. She turned it off for 5 minutes at my insistence and the noise stopped. I offered to pay for insulation or matting and she said she refuses for at least 6 months. As I've previously had noise issues in my house before she is using that as an excuse when this noise started 24/7 since the hot tub was plugged in.
I was stood on their deck and could feel the deck vibrating. I can't sleep, on a night I can hear it over the TV. I've broken down in tears multiple times. I was thinking of selling the house but this now means declaring it as an issue.
Anything I can do. Would the council even help, is there any point if I decide to move?
It's funny how in all these stories the neighbor instantly goes berserk and cannot be reasoned with.2 -

It's my understanding they take so long to heat up you need to keep them part heated all the time otherwise you're getting into cold water; you give them a boost just before you want to use them. So yes, they are incredibly wasteful and expensive to run.

Which is it then?

With a bit of luck the doubling of electricity prices tomorrow might get the thing switched off.6
