EDF for one. Submitted readings by mobile app. Took photos. All you can do, but surely no coincidence.
Indeed no coincidence.  Martin Lewis incited the public to perform what is effectively equivalent to a DDOS attack on the sites of the energy companies today, and the servers have reacted like they would under attack from far more simultaneous connections than they were designed to handle and have stopped working.

Today is the wrong day to do this in a lot of cases, as the suppliers tend to take the reading as the closing reading for the preceding day, so for some it should be tomorrow, and for anyone with Octopus it should be Saturday as they do not increase until then.
Check a previous bill and see which date they recorded your last reading...
Eon Next use the day previous to the read

Indeed they do so I send them a monthly meter read on the monthly anniversary date that I started with them (1st October 2021).  So just after midnight on the 1st of each month I send them my usual meter reads (they cannot access the SMETS2 meter reads themselves but that is another story).  Yes they will bill me for the period 1st-31st March as a result.  Their bills match up with my spreadsheet calculations.  Brilliant....except that the website is now showing "

Sorry, we're experiencing higher than usual levels of website traffic.

If you're having trouble logging in to your account, don't worry, you have until 9 April to give us your meter readings online for 31 March."  I daresay that most energy websites are in a similar state.  I'm not worried in the slightest but wonder when Eon Next will regain its online functionality.  I can only imagine that getting through to these companies is going to go from being problematical (in some cases) to virtually impossible for most.

Yes I am on a fixed tariff (variable DD) so I would like to get the readings to them so that they can issue me with my monthly statement using actual reads (which they have used up to now) rather than any estimated reads.

I ve been stuck with Eon and EDF as my suppliers since Zog and Symbio went bust last year

EDF and Eon don t appear to take any notice  of any of my monthly readings which I ve submitted in the six months I ve been with them .They only issue a proper bill every six months anyway and only one of my reads was used in the one six monthly bill I have seen .
If they are not happy with any of my  reads they can reject it. Suppliers will probably not accept all these last minute reads which manage to get through anyway as many will be submitting larger usage to save a few quid on the new rates

I've just had an e-mail from Scottish Power pointing out there is no reason to submit a meter reading today for those that have smart meters or are on fixed contracts. Might have been useful earlier in the day!

EDF yes but Eon Next issue a bill within hours of submitting a reading.
