So, how much data do you need to copy off it?

Might be cheaper to upload your files to the cloud and just rent the space for a month while your laptop is being repaired.

I'm just wondering if the laptop problem is caused by the lack of storage space. The Operating System needs free space. I don't think 2.54Gb is enough. Just a thought.

ETA: You can get an one month free trial of Microsoft 365 and this comes with 1 Tb of cloud storage. No need to buy anything. Once the trial has ended then the fee is £5.99 per month but hopefully your laptop would have been repaired before then.
