I have had far more USB sticks fail than other storage media. Usually with total data loss. SSD's can suffer the same as can mechanical
hard drives. Nice shiny 2TB drive purchased to move all my photo's from various old drives and computers. The day after it failed to power
up. Totally dead no noise, no warnings. And yet I have some seriously hard worked 250GB drives that just will not die.
SSD's can give warnings when they start to degrade, USB sticks are usually OK one minute and dead the next.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

SSD's can give warnings when they start to degrade, USB sticks are usually OK one minute and dead the next.I have never had a usb stick die before it became so small another one was bought ;-) (I would not consider under 128gb these days).I also but decent drives with good reviews (and nothing under usb 3.1 these days). Of course you may but 2tb drives off amazon for £20 ;-) (Thery are there amoing many less obvious fakes if you prioritise cost above everything else). Also I would never have just one backup. Depoendign on what it is I may have 8 backups! But it really depends on whjat it is.SSD's and USB sticks both can both give warings but they are non existant compared to hard drives. Backups at a bare minimum = 1. The used copy. 2. On site backup. 3. off site backups. 4. Very important stuff on the clould stuff you have but probably ignore.0 -

Your going to trust your data to unknown Chinese products? Who knows whats inside those units. 10 year old used laptop drives?
Reviews are not even the product listed. 320 - 500gb units. Reviews... Corrupt files lost data really noisy... My guess used laptop
drives recovered from dead or scrap machines.
For less than £40 you can get a Seagate or Toshiba 1TB drive. 5x more capacity and a proper branded item.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I selected these because they were the ones showing as most purchased items, and had more stars
I will look for seagate and Toshiba ones .
I have mainly family photos and videos which I want to save0 -
Stars and feedback can be purchased. Check the product sold for the good feedback and its not the
product on sale now. Amazons feedback system is a mess.
You can sell an item and get lots of great reviews then change the listing to something totally different
and keep the great feedback. Hence the odd comments about batteries etc.
Puzzled at their % system also. 2600 sales where 205 are 1star reviews and that is 5%?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I notice your smallest drive in your list was 120GB.
For £15.99 per year you can get 100GB of Google Drive storage.0 -
hi, - forgotmyname-
'Are you comparing a 32GB memory card to a TB hard drive? 240GB SSD for £21 (Adata, Kingston or Integral)
£3 for an adapter cable to plug the drive into a USB port if you need portability.
You may not need a 240GB drive? so even cheaper?'
i am still browsing, could you give me a link to any of the above items,
or i have come across this one , which i would like your views on, although it costs a bit more

Having lost data when I dropped a removable disk a few years ago I now purchase ones that have at least a degree of external protection, primarily ones produced by Transcend such as0
