Hi all. I have 6 months left on my virgin contract. I have broadband, phone and tv with them. They have told me it will cost £240 to end my contract now. These fees are not explained or displayed in my contract. Can they charge me these fees if the dont show them? Thanks in advance, Mike.

Yes they can charge them. It will be in your contract documents. The value will be your monthly payment times the number of months left. They can be nice and waive them but they don't have to. Early termination charges are very common.

Correct me if I’m wrong but they are not early termination fees, they are the remainder of the cost of your contract.1

What if I cancel or move home?
If you cancel during the minimum period, you may need to pay an early disconnection fee, including when you move to a property outside of the Virgin Media Network area – this is because you will be asking to cancel your services early. The Virgin Media network does not cover all of the UK – please use our postcode checker here to check availability. You can find more details on the early disconnection fee and process by visiting the Legal Stuff section of the website here. For the full terms and conditions please click here.1 -
Think your right martin. Thought the contract would of been more clear. Plus the rep repeatedly called them cancellation fees.0

If you were not within a minimum term then there wouldn’t be any cancellation fees at all , if the VM rep was calling ETC ( early termination change ) a cancellation charge , they were not describing it particularly accurately, as they raise a charge only if you are cancelling within the minimum term, and the charge vary’s depending how much of the minimum term remains….obviously the charge is much more if you cancel a 24 month deal after 2 months , compared to cancellation of a 24 month term with 2 months remaining.0

Hi, I am in the same situation, moving to new home where VM is not a provider. But I thought the charges have been scraped, this an article from 16 Feb 2022: search this on google,
Virgin Media O2 axes broadband disconnection fees of up to £240 for home movers

You will find that VM don’t just take your word for it that you are moving to a non VM area, they require proof of the new address like Utility bills in your name at the new ( non VM served ) address.1

Hi,
Wanted to update that VM should have been more clear in their site. The customer service personnel immediately tells you about the fees and then when I told him about the move to scrap they asked for the proof which I provided easily. Once that's done my full fee was removed. All I need to do is send back the device to avoid being hit with £40 for it. They have collection+ points and send you prepaid package as well. They are okay only thing that annoys me is they give half baked information.0
