We had Safe Style come out to quote for a back door. The guy was hard selling like his life depended on it. It was like a 101 of making a sale. He even did the phoning his boss trick for a better deal.
Decided not to use them and get a local tradesman instead.1 -

Everest 2020 Ltd was only incorporated in March 2020, so it is a bit misleading of them to say that the company has been around since the 1960s....

Topher said:We need to replace Mum’s patio doors. We’ve had a quote from Everest of £6,125. This will be for a double outward opening UPVc set of french doors set into the space where there are some double glazed tilt and slide panels. There will be criss cross bars on the windows to make them look like they are made up of small window panes like a 1930s french window, giving the image of 15 “individual panes” per door. There will be polished gold effect straight modern handles. The doors will have Everest’s 20 year guarantee and have some kind of Police security stamp allocated to them. There will be wood effect skins on the doors, white on the inside, green on the outside. I know that Everest charge a lot but does anyone have an idea of how the quote of £6,125 compares?Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.1

Thank you everyone for some very informative replies. I had booked to have these French doors fitted, and paid the deposit, but the wheels are now in motion for cancelling and I’ve had it confirmed that the deposit is being returned. I’d originally felt that I didn’t have time for shopping around for quotes, but being mugged for the Everest price makes me now think it will be worth my time if I can get the job done for under the £6,125:00 quote (and that was with a “10% discount”). Many thanks to all who took time to share their opinions and knowledge, you’ve probably saved us a few thousand pounds £2

shop around . stay local . would be good to talk to the person fitting the job . Or knew anything about the window business rather than a sales rep , keep this upto date and let us know how it goes

They also made the mistake of insisting that I have my partner present for the sales pitch... 1) I don't have a partner. 2) I am quite capable of making my own financial decisions (a point I repeatedly made to the salesman).

A Quick update. After evaluating comments on here, I decided I had “been had” by Everest and cancelled the order online first, then by phone (just to ensure that it was done within the cooling off period). My phone call was dealt with efficiently and courteously with some advice on how to check up the deposit had been refunded and how to follow up if I found it wasn’t. It took a few tense days to wait for info. that the money had been repaid into the bank but it was paid in full (even though there were hints on the website that in some circumstances some admin fees might be deducted). Now of course I’m back at square one with researching what local companies can provide, but I’m relieved to be disentangled from the Everest “deal” but I’d like to thank everyone who considered the original question I’d posted, and took time to give me advice, I feel I’ve been saved from making an expensive mistake, so thanks.11
