    My phone tells me that I have 172 apps - I think I paid 49p for a 'plane finder' one, the rest were free.

    whatthreewords - in case of needing to give location in an emergency
    local bus tracker - depends on if there is one in your area, of course
    ordnance survey maps - they have a paid for upgrade which I think is needed to download maps for use where there is no phone signal, but I have been fine with the free version on my walks

    National Lottery app, so that I will receive instant notification that I have won 34 million in Wednesday's Euromillions draw.

    The app from your mobile service provider is useful for keeping a handle on your usage/spend.

    JustWatch, lets you check if a particular film/TV series is available on your available streaming services.

    Keep Notes AKA Google Keep - you can use it to make notes on virtual Post-It style notes and if you install it on your tablet and PC too all you notes will sync between them. It also does reminders and lots of other useful stuff.
