Positive - Trip to Spain Planned

This morning I woke with the sniffles and was due to go to a meeting for work so I did an LFT test.  I was certain that I was fine, but did the test so that I could say I was fine if anyone asked about having the sniffles.  Anyway, the test returned positive so I am not going to the meeting.

The rules seem rather vague no on what we do.  No longer a need to self-isolate, but staying home and away from others seems the right thing to do.  The NHS website seems to say I need to go for a PCR test also.  I am not sure what benefit that is.  Presumably, I just need to wait 5 days and then do another LFT and (hopefully) clear by then and back to normal.

That will be the everyday, as I understand it.

We also have a trip to Spain booked for 10th April, and this is a bit less clear whether it will be impacted.
Seems like I need the vaccination record and a health declaration done two days before travel.
Hopefully we will be able to get everything we need.

Can't speak for Spain but I'm off to France in a couple of weeks, and I note that for them I have to make a declaration "on my honour" ( :D ) that i've not had covid in the last 14 days.

I recently had Covid - we still have to self-isolate in Scotland, and went to Tenerife a few days after I was released. I got out early with two negative LFTs. I contacted the holiday company to let them know as soon as I tested positive and they were quite relaxed about it. They said as long as you get out of isolation in time you'll be fine.

The Spanish passenger form / health declaration only asked if I had tested positive for Covid within the last 7 days, and by that time I was beyond the 7 days so I hadn't. I was worried going through the airport about awkward questions, but it was all very straightforward.

If my experience is anything to go by you'll be fine.

    Hi

We just returned from France - we completed loads of forms - but no-one checked anything!!

So you might not need any documentation.

You will most certainly need documentation. The Spanish health form is checked and the QR code scanned at the point of arrival. That could of course change in the next 2 weeks, but as of 2 weeks ago it was still required, and checked.
Unlike the return to the UK, when no check whatsoever was made, though it was still required at the time.

Thanks everyone, it seems as though the Spanish entry check is a self-declaration to be clear for 7 days before travel.

I tested again this morning, it is a week since first positive and the test was only a faint line.  Does that mean the COVID is getting weaker?  Does it mean tomorrow has a good chance of being all-clear?

I travel next Sunday, 10th April, so if I am negative by Sunday this week (3rd) then I can do the self-declaration for 7-days.

People who have tested every day while positive, do report that the line indicates the strength of infection. Every chance tomorrow or the day after will be negative.

    Yay!  Negative today.
It does seem as though the faint line yesterday indicated a weaker level of infection.

Hopefully negative tomorrow also, then I'll get the 7-days clear and holiday Spain will be ON!
So looking forward to it, was December 2019 last time we had a holiday so it is a long time because of COVID.
    A well-deserved two-weeks coming up.

The news says that the baggage handlers are going on strike - we'll just go hand luggage only if that's the case.

    What's going on?
    Faint line Friday
    No line Saturday
Faint line again today, so back positive.  How did I catch it again?  I still kept isolated yesterday so it makes no sense.
    I feel perfectly fine.

If you have a light virus load then it may not show on LFT. It could be that at the time when you tested yesterday there was not enough load in your nose to trigger a result. That is why you need 2 tests 24 hours apart to be sure.

I had 1 day (about 2-3 days into my cold symptoms) when I did 4 lateral flows. 2 were faintly positive and 2 were negative. I went for a PCR the same day and got a negative result the next day. I did another lateral flow and that was negative too. 2 days later I got a clear positive. This all happened when we were still supposed to isolate for 10 days. The tests on days 5/6/7 hadn't quite been introduced.
