Dear all,
We received a mortgage offer for a 2 bed Shared ownership property recently. Hoping to complete the rest of the process and move in soon. I am in full time employment and also work one day in another job. Wife is looking after the 2 kids. She is not planning to work at least for another couple of years.
Here is an approx breakdown of the S/O payments.
Rent - £680 Mortgage - £180 Service Charge per month - £140
My combined Month Salary approx min £2200. Only other benefit we receive is the CB which is around £140.
1) If applied for UC what kind of help will i receive? ( I used the entitled to benefit calculator under the shared ownership option and was given a apporx estimation of £500 per month. If i really can receive such amount i will be in a comfortable position affording the SO charges)
2) Does my wife or myself need to attend an interview?
3) If any changes in income can i update the deatails online?
Thanks in advance

I did not realise someone earning over £2k per month needed UC! My OH is on less than that and she wouldn’t dream of applying for UC.3

Yes, you can get UC and housing help for the rent portion of your share.
Ignore the judgey person above - if you can claim, you should2 -
There's a benefits section further up the forum where your post is more suited.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1

@guysl80 - bear in mind you won't be eligible for UC if you have more than £16,000 in savings, so it might be that you're not eligible until after you've paid the house deposit.
@GentleGiant01 - it'll depend on whether you work as well and whether you have kids. There are plenty free online calculators for you to find out if you're eligible.1 -

Once i pay the deposit i will have around £5000. I have 2 kids and my wife looks after them. She will not work for at least 2 years..
My total S/O cost will be around £970 per month inc Mortgage+rent+service charge. I roughtly receive £2500 per month and as per the calculator im elgible for £500+ apartt from the CB. If this is the case it will be very beneficial for us.0
