I don't know how I achieved this but since May 2020, I have been basking in the warm glow of an MBAM Premium Licence; courtesy of those nice people at NatWest!
Thing is, I'm not a customer of theirs, I'm with Halifax - who are also part of Lloyds Banking Group, non the less, I feel a bit of an interloper.

Just checking my licence validity this evening, I was surprised to find that my 755 days will be "up" on June 1st. Tempus fugit as they say :o
Yes I know, 755days is an odd "term", but we must make allowances, they (MBAM) are after all Yanks!

Ergo I was drawn into checking "what happens next", I have found the NatWest/MBAM terms for the offer, and note that with particular reference to "Expiry" they say that in the event that the agreement is not to be renewed, "we", (customers of NatWest?), will be given three months notice of this and given the option of taking on the onward financial burden and since I am now well within this period, I can only presume that the Status Quo will be maintained!  :D

I am baffled, as I have no idea how I managed to jump aboard this particular "bandwagon" in the first place; I have hunted high and low on the Halifax web site for any sign, or even a mention that it is available to "us" the proletariat!
Perish the thought that I may be cheating the system!
If anyone can confirm that this offer is indeed open to all Lloyds Banking Group customers, I would be grateful.

  • Well you obviously installed MBAM at some point and either you're a previous Natwest Group (formerly RBS Group) customer or there was a publically available workaround 2 years ago.

I'd be more concerned about your lack of memory over how you got this "freebie" than anything.

Just checking my RBS-supplied Malwarebytes license (I have a clear recollection of it being offered to me and me installing it on several devices) and it does indeed expire on 31 May. You may wish to check that your payment details and auto renewal options are up-to-date if you wish to continue using MWB.

    Or, indeed, not.

Is this offer ending then? I note Natwest advise the offer will be available until "at least" May 2022.

I asked the question yesterday (by online chat), they said that the information on the website is up-to-date. My licence on my Malwarebytes account expires 31/03/22 (actually 03/31/22) so have to assume yes it is.

Might be worth getting a licence key from Natwest (from Digital Banking, Security) and plugging it into a copy of Malwarebytes just to check what the current expiry date is.

I just did, it says it expires in 33 days.

Thanks for that, confirms what I was told via online chat.

They said I would get a minimum of 3 months notice.

End of May suggests I should have got this by the end of February.
  • Always troublesome to complain about a product or service ending when it was supplied at no cost and with no obligation to use.

Should the notice have come from NatWest or Malwarebytes I wonder?

I will be sad when this ends too. If Natwest are not renewing or extending this, what is the replacement?
I remember the earlier days when they tried to push Rapport back when IT security was more basic.

This is what it says in the T&C now

    • This licence expires in May 2022 unless we tell you otherwise.
    • Malwarebytes has the right to end the licence at any time by giving you 3 month’s notice.
My understanding is that it will end in May 2022, but if they want to end it earlier they will give you 3 months notice.
