Because they didn’t want to take away the ‘mistake’ sofa 3 weeks ago when they brought the ‘correct’ one. Because if this I found myself with 4 sofas in total as I had a second hand one in my conservatory. I subsequently sold my old sofa for £50 on Facebook marketplace the same day as I had no space for it anymore and the DFS ‘mistake’ sofa was obviously newer and better quality -(plus no mention of it needing to be collected - just ‘here’s your sofa, goodbye’)powerful_Rogue said:That's all well and good, but what is the reason you refuse to return the sofa?
i will end up having to purchase a replacement for the one that was actually fine but obviously not in as good condition as the DFS’mistake’ sofa if they take this sofa back. They’ve left me housing this ‘extra’ sofa for 3 weeks with the new one. Which is ridiculous, if I’d have had to put it somewhere (it’s not small)So, because I sold a perfectly serviceable sofa because DFS customer service ended up with me having 3 sofas and no indication of wanting any of them back.Until they ask for one of the three back 3 weeks later. 🤷♀️0 -

No offence, but that excuse is not going to hold any weight at all if it comes to the small claims court. Just pay or return.

You'll probably be able to pick up a sofa for about £50 on fb marketplace I'd imagine... So you'll be back where you started.

Yeah we are just going to make DFS an offer and If they aren’t happy with it then they can take the sofa and, as you say, just get another one off marketplace. Thanks x0

Just a word of warning, you know as well as I do that DFS are a difficult company to deal with. If you make them an offer that they refuse they may well try charging you to collect the sofa, they tried that on with me. A charge of up to 20% of the price of the furniture will be made to cover the cost of collecting the items, it's in their terms and conditions.griffjenjen said:Yeah we are just going to make DFS an offer and If they aren’t happy with it then they can take the sofa and, as you say, just get another one off marketplace. Thanks x

The best thing to do would have been refuse delivery, if its wrong its wrong. On the other hand i would have stored it until they collected it, i definitely wouldn't have the kids, dogs, and stains on it. I would have always thought they want it back.0

Yeah they are shocking. I would never deal with them again, they are quick to take your money and after that they really don’t seem to care. It’s a shame as the settees are pretty comfy ha. Not worth the annoyance of dealing with their non existent customer service though. Once it’s all dealt with I will be putting a complaint in (for whatever that is worth 🙄 - I imagine it’ll join the hundreds of others they probably have) x0

They told me I wasn’t allowed to refuse delivery, I had to accept it. Which seemed ridiculous and I wasn’t happy about it but we needed something to sit on. I think they even unwrapped it if I remember correctly and the customer service person said it was fine to use it as it was their error. The whole thing has been a farce.Jasonh2015 said:The best thing to do would have been refuse delivery, if its wrong its wrong. If they try that !!!!!!, charging us, then I will get my solicitor mate to deal with them- so they want to charge you to take something they sent you by mistake and made you keep in your house for 5 months? Talk about adding insult to injury 😂. The cheek of them, I bet you were raging!Silver_Shark said:

I assume what they told you was you had to refuse both or accept both. And it has been fine to use it, they gave you the use of it for five months at no cost to yourselves. Your only point of dispute really is that there was 3 weeks between the delivery of the correct item and the collection of the incorrect one, but as you never actually raised the question of collecting the old one with them, it's hard to complain about that either. I really think they have treated you pretty well.griffjenjen said:
