Makes sense to me, as rough as it seems - I wouldn't expect to get the rebate if I wasn't the householder when it's paid.
Can I ask why? Bills are going up from April? Why shouldn't I get any help just bedside I'm moving in later than the 1st? I'm still going to struggle just like everyone else

Well, it's like the census. It has to be taken at one specific point in time for everyone to avoid people claiming twice, or being in two regions... etc.

You'll still be eligible for the £200 in October, remember. It really is impossible to make everything fit for absolutely everyone, unfortunately.  Had you been moving into a property which was occupied by the person you were buying from in late April you wouldn't have expected them to hand over the £150 to you then, would you?

Did you contact your solicitor to ask whether an allowance could be made for the council tax rebate assuming it is being paid on the property you're buying? (Albeit my suspicion is if the property is unoccupied, it won't be).

It is only £150, if that is even close to having an impact on your ability to buy then you cannot actually afford to buy.
  • Hi group.
Here is what I find very distasteful and I’m hitting a brick wall. I have a property I live in and pay all utility bills in clouding council tax. I have a property that I run as an Airbnb again pay all the bills and council tax. Finally i have a property that my tenant moved out off and is in the process of being sold .( was hoping it to have been completed by now so the new owners may have got it, neither of us will get it ) all the bills again I pay for. This doesn’t make me a rich person by any means. I’ve just invested in my money ready for retirement over the years.  To be told by my local council that I am only entitled to one £150??? Personally is outrageous .
As it state the government are giving the money for council tax A-D . I could understand if I wasn’t paying anything but I have to pay the bills as like any other person that owned a property . The fact that I’m selling one or casual rent one out shouldn’t  define that I am not entitled to the funds. The council are apply sending me three separate bills for nearly £2000 but then say I’m not entitled to the £150. Any advice .

If it makes your feel any better, stamp duty was dropped about a week after I bought my first house. I forget how much I paid now but it was a heck of a lot more than £150!
