themadvix said:Morning all,
I've just completed a piece of work for a new client for an existing US client, so hoping more is coming my way (even if I really don't like the client for ethical reasons 🙄 - I figure I'm taking money from them and not spending with them, so it's in alignment with principles really!).

Thanks Jess, you're completely right and I'm not in the position to turn down indirect paid work for the unethical bookseller - especially as it would hurt my chances of future work for other clients from that client. I also know that if I didn't do it, someone else would. It still galls me though!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Meant to say, Mr MV 'found' (we'd not really lost it, but hadn't remembered it was there) £200 this morning of treat fund money - so we'll be using some of that to book the Van Gogh thing in London as it's on our 40/40 list (mainly Mr MV who wants to see it, but I'm sure it'll be cool). Will aim to do that later this month when we're meeting friends for dinner in London anyway.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Morning all,
Chilly here today as for some reason our Hive hub isn't working - have tried resetting but no luck. It'll have to wait for Mr MV to come home. Have managed to get heating on, but it's going to be trickier than normal as it doesn't seem to want to click back on once its gone off.
Dinner last night was masala carrots and Mr MV has taken the remainder for lunch today. While the oven was on last night I popped two loaves in, so that saved a few pence. Shakshuka for dinner tonight, I think, as I bought a couple of peppers for it last week. Mr MV called in at Sains on his way home last night and picked up cheese, milk, eggs and painkillers as requested. £14.99 spent from voucher, but he owes me £6 of this as he bought some moisturiser too.
Weather is vile here today, so apart from the PO, I am very unlikely to be going anywhere! I do need to get into town at some point, but it can wait - tomorrow is meant to be less wet...
MS things:
* I've just cashed out on 1P! Hooray!
* PA now at £35 when cleared
* Bananas from R'ford (last week) are giant, so half equates to a portion 😂
* YG survey
* New increased rates put forward to our main client by my main client have been accepted - this will result in a payrise in keeping with inflation (am awaiting final details).
Gratitudes:
* A large piece of work from main client to focus on (you can tell this is happening, can't you?!)
* Nice chat with Dad yesterday and a quick catch up with Mum and Niece (only quick because they were in the McD's drive through queue 🙄)
* I shouldn't need to go anywhere in the rain (barring PO) today
Have a good day all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Evening all,
Am sitting in the candlelight now for the DFS hour… battery is fully charged (it happens automatically) and now discharging to the grid. Mr MV has come home with a horrendous headache so has retreated to the bath.
Day has been rather disrupted since my post this morning. Spoke to mum mid morning and she has a pain in her abdomen and was making mutterings about appendicitis, so I told her she needed to see someone. GP of course can’t see her for two weeks (utterly ridiculous given the issue), so she went to urgent care who have sent her to a&e. Fortunately she’s not in so much pain she didn’t feel able to drive. I was ready to get the mini out to take her. This has made me realise that I’ll allow my travel allowance pot to build up at bit (maybe to £100) before I start reallocating unspent funds - an Uber to mum’s and then potentially back here to the hospital would have burnt through my monthly £25 travel allowance very quickly. We also need to check whether I can drive other cars as a named driver on mr MV’s insurance. If not, might be worth me being a named driver on mum’s too. (Which brings me to ponder - my sis has a manual, which neither parent can drive - should probably consider that.)
In any case, while I’ve not yet gone anywhere to help, it’s distracted me a bit. And it’s a busy week Cambridge-wise as there’s a big event on and other Cambridge boss has been giving me plenty to do too, all while I’m trying to do this big job for main client. I did make good progress, despite the distractions though!
Posted all the paid for parcels from my friend’s guiding stuff today and have just transferred her the profit and £33 to my savings for my stamp usage. Not bad at all!
In light of events and as-yet unknown further events (will I need to go to hospital with food for mum, or worse get her an overnight bag), dinner is going to be bean burgers and chips - quick and easy.

I'm a named driver on my mum's car for similar reasons. If we're out together and she's not up to driving home or similar. And it actually reduced her premium. I hope your mum is seen to quickly and on the mend soon.7

I think to have third party cover on someone else's vehicle you have to have your own insurance on the same type of vehicle. Car insurance as policy holder means you may be able to drive other cars third party as long as they are insured in their own right. I only know this for motorcycle reasonsMy mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Thanks Greenbee - she’s being seen now, which is good.
That’s what I’m expecting to find Redo, but worth double checking. I know I’m not covered on my (soon to expire) insurance as it’s only TPFT, but would be good, if unlikely, if I was covered on his. Plans regarding my NCD have yet to decided - either I’ll be policyholder for the new car when we get it (but not main driver, although that seems to be ok according to the comparison sites) or I’ll take on insuring the mini, but that might be more difficult as it’s in Mr MV’s name (and changing that is non-negotiable).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

We used to swap every year - NCD lasted two yours without insurance, so the non work owned vehicle in my name was insured for us both in turn iyswim. Kept both our NCDs valid. And yes fully comp for third party on other vehicles, had forgotten that we've only ever had fully comp. Can't move NCD between motorcycle and car either. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
