I'm told that apart from the seasonal temporary staff (who work in the depots round here, mostly) the strikes at big river have meant they are offloading lots of parcels and big boxes to other couriers, including RM. Our DS said he almost got round his whole area with over 27000 step one day last week, when his van broke down. He was walking from the van to the roads at the extreme, but missed two when the breakdown guy arrived and refused to wait a few minutes while he finished them off. The breakdown chap said "Oh it's the starter motor on this one", clearly recognising the reg'n of the van and gaily told him he regularly gets called out to that van. They take it back to the depot, then someone taps the SM and it un-jams without having to go in to be replaced, only to break down again, another day. It's the stop start of the rounds that does it, and the lack of funding that means they don't get it properly fixed (that budget is overspent on hire vans...)
Yesterday afternoon, one of my neighbours called to buy more honey (a very local artisan gift!) and said when she went to the postbox she found it open with a bunch of 20-odd keys in it. Our post is normally collected at about 12.45 but who knows at the moment, who or when, or how they could leave without the keys.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Morning all,
I have finally emerged from under the piles of work, although I’ve got plenty still to try to get done today (we’re now in the realms of preferable rather than compulsory deadlines). Have been cat sitting this week too - for the last four days two houses, twice a day, but now down to one, which I’m looking after until the 30th.
Apart from some baking, I think we now have a present for everyone. Won’t be wrapping until tomorrow though, so we’ll see then. I really don’t recommend getting Covid in early December!
Money saving has occurred in the usual ways, but I am not going to list here. Have had a couple of meet ups with friends - lunch cost £19 for one, but the other was at her house, so free.
Not sure if I’ll make it back on here before Christmas, so I hope you all have a wonderful break and celebrations and I’ll see you all between Christmas and the New Year (I’ll be working at least some of the time and there’s plans to be made for next year.) 🎄🎄🎄🎄Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
