Fantastic accomplishments and news in your post, many congratulations!2023: the year I get to buy a car3

Afternoon all,
Thanks for all your lovely comments and not judging the £800 flights too harshly! 😂
Unfortunately Mr MV has heard back from the garage and it looks like the cost to fix the car is exactly the same as the size of our mortgage.... literally! Apparently there's damage to the high-voltage cables, but we're not sure how/why (and I think questions need to be asked as the car has just been in for a service). Mr MV will talk to them later (so far he's received an inspection video and a price) and see what's what. We will probably use some of the EF to cover the cost of the repair and pay the mortgage off as planned - after all, without the mortgage our outgoings are considerably lower! It's a bit of a bummer in any case.
I am cracking on with work today - in an inspired moment I emailed my client late last night to ask for him to send me some more work as I knew I'd finish what he'd given me this morning. He's in N. America now, so the time difference makes things tricky. Happily he's sent me two further bits of the project to work on, so I have plenty to do.
I've also been out briefly for a bag of carrots and a lettuce from Olio. Veg box has been ordered for Thursday, carefully avoiding summer turnips. I have a growing to-do list of things I need to buy/do in town but I don't know when is going to be best to do these (apart from maybe when it's warm enough that I don't need a coat and hoodie on when I'm cycling - where is the sun?!). I've also done a supermarket delivery order for tomorrow for a few bits I only tend to get from there.
MS things:
* Clicks, comps and HW done
* Olio bits collected
* PC survey done
* 1P surveys done - had a weird few days where I kept getting errors, but app seems to have sorted itself out now
* Dinner was pizza as planned last night - with sauce from the freezer and some Olio chicken bits for Mr MV. Cheese was purchased specifically and probably not as cheaply as it could have been at the Coop - but I'm assured it was on offer
Gratitudes:
* Plenty of work
* A better night's sleep last night
* Excitement of holiday to plan (one of the things to do in town is go to the library for some guidebooks so we can plan how to get the most out of the port stops without paying a fortune!)
Have a good afternoon all!

Morning all,
NG, thanks. I think you'd do well on a Virgin cruise as the basic non-alcoholic drinks are all included. Will let you know what we think!
So.... (and this is unconfirmed as yet), it may be that Mr MV damaged the high-voltage cables on the car when he changed the shocks on it the other week - which of course he did himself to save a £400 garage bill. This may prove to have been a costly mistake. 😔 He hasn't spoken to the service guy at the garage yet though, so we'll see. In any case, the money is there, it's just an absolute pita.
Mr MV is in the office today but has taken tomorrow off. He's absolutely exhausted at the moment due to not sleeping. (I'm similar, but at least I don't have to function in an office all day.) I've taken the tonight off from Olio, so I'm expecting we'll have a bit of a Friday evening vibe this evening. I've dug out some frozen strawberries and found some meringue nests to go with them and some yoghurt, so although it might be a bit mushy, we'll have a nice dessert. Dinner is beef and onion pie (Mr MV, courtesy Olio) and veggie sausage rolls for me, with mash, carrots and cabbage. The fridge is looking nicely devoid of fresh stuff, ready for our veg box delivery tomorrow.
I'm making good progress with the work from my main client and hope to get as far as I can without his input today (given the time difference). I also have a 2pm meeting with Cambridge boss, which will provide plenty for me to do I think too. I'd like to get to the allotment this afternoon, even if only briefly (it always seems to be that at the moment!) and I need to send an Ebay parcel (already packed and rtg).
I seem to have a list as long as my arm of jobs to do and only slowly seem to be making any progress with them (partly due to lots of work - good; partly due to lack of energy - bad). I think it has helped that I've written as many of them down as I can remember, so at least I have an idea of what they are, but the list seems to get longer, rather than shorter.
MS things:
* Clicks, comps and HW done
* PA surveys done
* Lots of work
* Resisted an unhealthy sweet treat in town yesterday
* Got guidebooks for both holidays out of the library - to enable research into the best budget ways to do everything
Gratitudes:
* Lots of birds eating in our front garden at the moment - they are getting through the seed quickly!
* Lots of work
* A night off from Olio - it's needed!
Have a good day all!

Car update... the parts are made in Ukraine.... it may be 6 months before we get our car back! 🙄 Good job we hadn't sold mine I guess! (Although we're hoping Audi will lend us one.)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Oh my word! When the world comes calling, it can do so in the most unexpected way
I hope Audi will sort you something, at any rate.

Crikey! 😱 that is an epic car fiasco, I'm so sorry! 😱 Hope it can get sorted earlier than that xx4

Thanks ladies. It is pretty epic, but the silver lining is that we won’t have to pay until it’s done, which means we shouldn’t have to call on the EF.
Not sure if I mentioned in my post of good news the other day, but we’re awaiting the arrival of the money from the cat insurance claim - it’s been approved! So that’s something at least!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
