Thanks NG!
We’re bailing on dinner and going to pub for cheap meal (2 for £10) and warmth. House is now 13 degrees except in my office where the heated airer has provided gentle heat. Am sitting with back against oil filled radiator but it’s still freezing! 🥶🥶🥶Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

In good news, just heard from plumber and he says to contact manufacturer as it’s under warranty. Will do that in the morning - so glad to have some positive news!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Morning all,
Even colder here this morning - about 10 degrees in the coolest parts. We've hammered the battery putting an oil-filled radiator on briefly and the immersion heater on for 45 mins. I then waited until the sun was up enough to charge the battery and run my heated airer. Mr MV is in the smallest room and has the sun streaming in - he appears unaffected.... I am wearing four layers, including my coat, with the hood on my hoodie up and fingerless gloves and two pairs of socks. I wouldn't even say I'm someone who feels the cold. Annoyingly I could do with being here today due to Cambridge commitments (i.e. reliable Internet required), otherwise I'd've decamped elsewhere. Didn't sleep well as I let the cats in with us as it's so cold and also because I had caffeinated tea at dinner time last night.
Pub was £18.69 for two main meals, a pint of Guinness, a tea and a free glass of wine (download app welcome offer!). We spent a good couple of hours there and then came home to a preheated bed where we watched some TV on the laptop.
Boiler repair has been booked for Thursday at least. Mr MV is in the office tomorrow and Thursday - I will probably go out tomorrow to somewhere warm but will need to be here Thursday. It will be repaired under warranty, so hopefully no cost or wranglings to sort out!
I have plans for dinner tonight (they use the oven), so am hoping to avoid dinner out again (which is ridiculous really, but it was nice to actually get warm!). It just depends how miserable it gets. Having the oven on will help warm things up, but not for long.
Still super busy with my work and Cambridge stuff...
MS things:
* HW and clicks - a few pennies on the HW
* No gas usage?!
* Collecting some bits from an Olioer at 12 - will enjoy the heated seats in the car in the process!
Gratitudes:
* Heated airer!
* Pub for warmth and food
* Sunshine - at least we're not running up a huge electricity bill running the immersion/electric heating
Have a good, warm day all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks NG. Engineer had a cancellation so he came earlier and fixed the boiler… but suspiciously we are now having power problems… weird ones…. Mr MV is trying to diagnose the issue…. It makes no sense!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

(But at least it’s a bit warmer… until we can’t turn the power on to the boiler..)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Ooh, fingers crossed it's sorted soon. Being cold is miserable 🙄 I know when we lost heating for 6 days in that storm a while back we definitely decamped elsewhere as soon as we could (although we had no electricity either for most of that 😂). So i don't blame you for going to the pub - and I wouldn't blame you if you went tonight too!5

Thanks Cheery! Fortunately Mr MV has solved the power problem and we are now warm and with power at last. We had Fortune’s recommended leek and tomatoes eggy bread bake for dinner. Needs a little refining, but would cook again (Olio French bread may not have been the intended choice of the recipe creators mind you).
Looking forward to a less eventful day tomorrow!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
