So the deal he's on isn't actually that bad after all? Yes, there will be better but if he's happy I don't get why you're stressing.

I don't think it's the broadband that's the problem - it's the TV package. This is what they currently have: Sky HD Box, Sky Signature (no HD recording) and Sky Sports - all for the grand old sum of £72.50.

There is no SkyQ box. They have had the same box for coming on to 11 years.

I only found out about it because I saw the letter when I came home.

Everyone's thoughts on the above package is appreciated.
I've got that -all in HD - For £38pm after the April increases !

That deal is quite decent but I'd push for Sky Q, as far as I can recall there wasn't an extra charge unless you were going for the Sky Mini box/another room subscription. But then if you're in that frame of thinking you might as well push for Sky Glass! Sorry I've gone off in a tangent...the deal you are getting is good. Personally I'd badger them more for an upgrade, if there going to stick your parents into another contract period may as well make it worthwhile!
  • Yes so the price wasn't the concern really, it is the services we are getting. If we got SkyQ, then we're not fussed with the cost. They were quoting £68 for that (rather than £72 current package), and then rescinded it 2 working days later. That's what we are frustrated about, nothing else.

It's the principle of them offering a better deal for a few pounds cheaper with SkyQ and then rescinding it a couple of working days later. Why not just honor what you said before? That's the issue, not the price.

Ok that is a bit odd and doesn't explain why. So if you did not get the this new price are they going to leave you on the old price?
  • Actually, there has been an update. They called us back in response to an email complaint and offered the package for £74. So we get Sky Q, Sky Sports, Sky Signature, Superfast BB, and BB boost from April. That's £5.50 more than originally offered, however, my parents were happy with that and took the deal.

I reckon the tv part of that could be got from retentions for £32-34. Broadband from now at £21. But with every deal the main thing is the person involved being happy with the deal.  If your parents are, then that is a good result, and no more stress or hassle for you.  Personally I think if you were offered less originally and you had called to complain about that price not being honoured then it’s not a great result… Tip in future make sure in their account settings are so Sky can contact them.  Always put in cancellation to get better deal at end of contract.  If Sky don’t contact you for whatever reason just call back before end of cancellation period and negotiate say you had second thoughts etc.. but as I said as long as your parents are happy then that’s the main thing.  Job done (for another 18 months anyway😀)
