Hi
Just a heads up. Chase bank state you get 1% cashbank if you open your account, use their app and use their card. However, what they don't tell you is that you must have an operating sytem 8.0 or above as the App will not work on any OS below that. Seems to me the software designers have made it so that the bank mises out on business. I only have OS of 7.0 on both my mobile and tablet so cannot download their app.

Because phones on OS 7 and below are no longer supported for updates so are far more vulnerable to being hacked or malware or a virus attacking the phone.
Most banks do this. And rightly to.6 -
It's fundamentally a security issue, as outlined above. System requirements are clearly indicated on their website. Ultimately someone at Chase will have decided that the cost of allowing people to access their accounts on unsupported devices is more than it would cost in terms of lost business from not allowing those customers to access to their services.2

Guess it's ok for them that's got the money to afford more up to date OS's, some of us ain't!!!!! In the words of Leonard Cohen 'the poor stay poor, the rich get rich'

Chase account holders don't get rich from being Chase account holders. There's 1% cashback for 12 months, ok - - - but there's no cashback for Direct Debits, which could easily be worth more than cashback on spending, and which don't require an app (Santander 123 accounts). You can also easily make reliable money from Halifax Reward, as well as Club Lloyds and Natwest and RBS Reward accounts - none of which require any mobile app. Although, eventually, the non-mobile apps will no longer support old operating system versions, either. Just like the wallpaper or the carpet in your living room, or your underwear, needs "upgrading" at some point in time, so does your internet technology. It's worth noting that it is not only banking apps which will at some stage require an upgrade to function reliably, but all sorts of other apps, too, e.g. your email or chat or fitness app6 -

But, as Daliah points out, it's not really relevant to the Chase system requirements. Chase won't make or keep you rich. Not having Chase won't make you poorer.1 -
Yes, I am aware of that Zanderman, but the lyric is sufficiently different to be treated as original . You can attribute any phrase to a previous source if you look hard enough. As one commentator said, 'Shelley can't quite be said to have originated the 'rich get richer and the poor get poorer' proverb. He was stating a historical fact that the rich had become richer etc.'After all, throughout history, there has been rich and poor, and I am sure, 4000 years ago, there was an Egyptian peasant who remarked to a friend ''I get poorer as they get richer. It's all part of the human condition.

PS. Penners324.... I have had a look at other banks Apps. VM, NatWest and Santander all can run on OS 7.0, does that mean they are insecure? I am not techie, so will defer to your greater knowledge.
