You need to go through your friends list and look at which one has hundreds of strange friends then either get them to change their settings and unfriend these people or unfriend them yourself.
I have only ever received a couple of weird friend requests.

When I get a friend's request, it shows any people that are mutual friends.

OP has already said that they don't have any FB friends so it's  not coming from there.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Maybe it's just one particular friend that has all these friends.
Why would anyone want to "share friends" anyway?
This is what I hate about social media!!
Then why bother being on Facebook? Its pi turpose is to stay connected to friends!
I use it to contact companies who dont use email

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

Facebook is useful for interest/hobbies groups, local area groups etc. I use it far more for these kind of things than i do keeping in touch with friends

I tend to use Twitter for communicating and Facebook for investigating things ....

You can try to search your profile on Google and see if someone has mentioned it somewhere and that could be the place where the request are coming from.

Other people can influence what I see and do on line
    Doesn't this break GDPR?

    GDPR is European law.
Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/whatever are not in Europe, they are US companies.
