Thanks for posting. Glad to know it's not just me - first one went through but no more.

Ditto, I’ve had same issues using Halifax debit cards, first one good, second and third rejected. Contacted Halifax and they just said, no record of attempted transaction was showing on system speak to Yorkshire B.S. or we could send out  new cards. Contacted YBS, they said we can take your card payment over the phone so we tried and both cards failed, so YBS said speak to Halifax.

    What do you do?

  • Still can't make any more DC payments today (was hoping might be a daily limit...), even in to a different YBS acct with a different debit card. From what Bemr says above, it's not just restricted to payments from Halifax/Lloyds Banking Group, so presume the issue must be with YBS. I've sent them a message to highlight the issue to see if it can/should be looked in to

I had the same issue trying to deposit with a CoOp debit card. The field to type in my name was prepopulated by name in capitals. I typed in my name in lower case and hey presto - it worked.

I think the change from 'Cardholder Name' to having separate fields for first and second name may be part of the problems people are having.  I did the same as you with one of my attempts yesterday, and it still failed.  Also not clear whether to include Mr/Mrs/Miss/Mx etc in the firstname field if that is how the name is shown on the card. (there's no separate field for honorifics)

    There's a similar thread discussed here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6339012/halifax-debit-card-transactions

I was having issues yesterday with amounts >£25 - had a second screen pop up prompting for a OTP, which was received and inputted as required, but still declined. Trying again, multiple smaller transactions for £20 and below have gone through without issue. My guess is the problem is YBS, as the same card worked fine elsewhere for larger amounts.

I used my card on 1 March with no problem. I only ever pay an amount between £400 and £500, for the usual reason.

I think everybody had x 1 card payment accepted, problem subsequent card(s) payment(s) getting declined

I've (also) secure messaged them this a.m. asking if they are aware/doing anything about the problem. And asking if they are aware, why is their site status claiming 'no issues'.
  • Response from YBS today:

    "Thank you for your message.

Please accept our apologies but we are currently having intermittent issues with online debit card payments which is been looked into as a matter of urgency. You are still able to pay in using the faster payment facility via your bank/building society.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused."

I have also contacted YBS by phone today regarding debit card payments. Nice lady says ‘we are aware of the issue and are trying to sort it’. She took all my info to make the call official. Let’s see what happens.
